  1. I have taken delivery of a new number plate and it came in one of those
padded envelopes. No need for a nasty placky bag.

Et tu. <sigh> Though looking in the mirror in the brightly lit
changing rooms at Laserquest I conceded that after a winter of muffins
and crumpets Ogden may have a point.

Right that's it. Diet and exercise time now it is spring. Get the ab
machine and rowing machine out from under the bed, use the cross
trainer for more than 3 minutes at a time, hell I might even go
swimming and not just sit in the jacuzzi and sauna.

I once took my lovely RD250D to the Stafford Classic Bike Show because
the RD Owners Club asked me to put it on their stand. I rode it over in
the shittiest of weather and rode it straight into the hall and onto the
stand without washing or polishing it. Under all the road shite was an
immaculate original 10,000 mile bike that was a serious contender for
Concourse events, but some people didn't appreciate the fact that it
actually got ridden to places. My thoughts...**** 'em. That was the last
    time I showed it anywhere.

Nowt strange about that. I can remember virtually all of my old plates
too, and I dare say I've had a fair few more than most people here.

I can't remember what we ate for dinner last night though.

Oi! Sod off picking on us weirdoes.

Salad Dodger emerged from their own little world to say

    The 1st car I ever drove was a Morris 1100, LDD 236E

    Aged 11 on Pendine Sands.

My dad's Morris Minor Traveller WHM 833G aged 11 or so. I later owned it
after he bought another identical one. Dad used to let me drive it alone
100 yards up the road to fill it with petrol when I was 12 or 13.

  15. If money was no object[1] I'd have a Scimitar

[1] Not because of the purchase price but because of the upkeep.

  17. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Whinging Courier
There's always one or two on ebay... They're not that pricey to run on
open roads, but if you're pootling around town all day they would be a
    bit thirsty.

More than one person has put a diesel lump in for that reason.

He might not have looks or charm but he does have
an enormous balance at Dogger Bank.

It got culled - it doesn't change much during the winter, so I thought
I'd bin it. It might make a reappearance later in the month.

Anyroadup, more Wing fettling[1] planned for the weekend, cos the RBR
starts in 3 weeks, and the MOT's due in a fortnight.

    Then there's B'bird fettling[2], KH500 fettling [3] and TS250
    dismantling[4].

    [1] Daytona heated grips to be removed[5], and OEM grips refitted[6];
bleed brakes once and for all[7]; wire in "Rings of Fire". check
    headraces have seated properly.

[2] Chain and sprox is on the cards, and the headstock just started
getting notchy. Brakes need a clean, by the feel of them[8], too.

[3] Just fitting the front wheel properly, and taking it out for a
good thrash down the Royal Docks Spine Road to clear out the
    oil-soaked cobwebs.

[4] Pending either Ebay or rebuild. I know Ebay makes more sense, but
I *want* it to go again.

[5] Absolute shite. Even for £30.

[6] Top marks for Tippetts of Surbiton: phoned Tuesday, they were on
the doormat when I got home tonight[9]. £16 the pair. :)

[7] There's still no pressure in the pedal line, but no bubbles
either. Additionally, I need to refit the air dam under the lower
yoke, and the brake lines are supposed to pass *through* it. Which
means removing the hoses from the calipers.

[8] They've become awful "grabby" over the last couple of weeks.

[9] If I haven't killed someone before this project thing is over,
I'll be amazed: I was there (with 3 others) until 7 tonight creating
data for tonight's test run, and when I rang downstairs to let them
know we'd finished, the whole of the IS floor had gone home.

  20. As someone who's had seceral of both, the 2600 was much nicer - handled
better, much more oomph to it (not more power overall, but a defined
powerband which the V8 in standard trim didn't have).

The 2600 also didn't drink as much fuel and didn't break down as often.
The V8 just stressed everything beyond its limits.
