A Beetle with a Porsche engine at the back is a Porsche.

  2. The idea was was to make it as inconspicuous as possible until you put
your foot down and left the back axle on the road. LOL

  3. D'you know, I deleted the footnote about him not delivering milk in it
    but I should've known better.

Aren't normal looking cars with hidden go faster bits called sleepers?

Obviously a man of taste and quality, what with him having an Audi 100
    Avant as a second car.

I always wanted a Beetle with a reversed transaxle and a big V8 where the
    back seat used to be.

One of my old man's mates used to run a Beetle tuning place (Beetle
People in High Wycombe). His toys included a VW transporter pick-up
with a twin-turbo Porsche racing engine in the back. Awesome bit of kit.

He also had a Kubelwagon (sp?) with an adjustable rear diff. It was
great fun adjusting the diff 'til it was almost locked, then driving it
round tight corners. The drivetrain wound itself up and then, when it
couldn't take anymore, the whole back end of the car leapt sideways
    across the road :)

Oh **** I've fed his fantasies, hide your newspapers and envelopes.
My dad used to tape 'family occasions' (on an old reel to reel, at
first) and I've been given CDs of the recordings. There's a lovely bit
of mum turning over the Allegro on christmas morning and having to get
a push from the neighbour. It goes on for about 10 minutes, chug chug
chug die chug chug chug rattle die...
