Rare, admittedly, but not unknown. Mind you, the worst one ever had to
be a 1.8D non-turbo Escrote engine. Something along the lines of a
modern 3L V6 2turbo diesel from BMW or someone like that would be just
    the job.

Listening for suggestions huh? Righteo :)

Can't find a menu option for adding people to the Bozo Bin (I found the
    icon though)
Can we have an easy way for marking all messages unread in a group?
And for turning off/on threading in a group?
And if I've got a batch thing set up to download new messages every 5
minutes say, can it not reset the group view and loose the place where
I was when it runs the batch?
And when I ignore a thread, the next time I run XN it shows the thread
again (I think, I use it on 3 machines so I may be imagining this one?)
Can you write it in VC++ so I can play wiv the source? :)

I assigned it to the hotkey 'K'. There were a few problems when the
hotkey system threw a wobbler a few versions ago but Colin's now fixed it.

  6. References header maybe, works OK where the one to be avoided their
own newsserver. Not so hot for readers that generate random headers
and/or servers that do the same.

  7. That's an interesting function....

It still has the problem that you're possibly (indeed, probably) killing
postings from people whose stuff you want to read, so in effect you're
    k/filing people by default.

And the more prolific the k/filee, the more people you're adding to the
killfile, but then I'm sure you figured that out too.

  8. So what you need is a "If <bozo> is in reply to my message"?

Get a PC and use Gravity, man!

I don't want to try to turn this group into xananews.support - that's
    on the forums.talkto.net server. But...
Yes - it should be on a menu too. I'll add it...
The quickest way is Edit/Select All, followed by mark message as unread
    (CtrL+A, Ctrl+R)
To temporarily switch between threaded/unthreaded click on the Flags
column header. TO make it permanent select 'Newsgroup Properties',
'Derived Settings', 'Sorting & Threading', Chronological.
    I'll check it out.
    I'll check it out.
Heh. I've thought about writing a C# version too. But I'm hobbled by
the lack of a free, excellent, multi column tree; and things like SSL
support. Get yourself a copy of Delphi - YKIMS!

  10. True enough. I mean, just killing all posts which say "Abuse report
    sent" would be a start.
Yes, I agree. I just can't help feeling it would be a bit pointless, as
well. Especially if you're simply k/fing someone because you don't like
them, rather than because you don't think they post anything of worth -
witness thread participation for proof of this.

Now, if I look at my own k/file parameters <opens k/file and has a
peek>, I see I've got two posters in there simply because I don't think
they ever post anything at all worth reading, or if they do, it goes
silly after one or two replies.

The rest is all the usual troll-blocking stuff. Anyone posting from a
cotse.com address, anyone using the word "Root" as a posting name,
anyone x-posting to an alt. group (a damn good one that, and thanks to
whoever suggested it) and anyone x-posting to a newsgroup containing the
    word "troll"

Now that would be a damn good idea, yes. As I said elsewhere in this
thread, I took dannydeever out of the bin because he started mmaking
some interesting posts here & there.
How does your newsreader treat read posts, then? MacSoup displays them n
its graphical display, but removes them from the list of posts in the
main window and stores them separately.

Ahh, doing a Ctrl H to show all messages, un thread them and sort by
author name lets me find that post I just lost. Sorted :)
Soooper! I knew the other way, just wondered if there was a temporary
    quick way, like this.
    Thanks mucho.

Oh, one last thing, when I press N or M (or one of the other keys to go
to the next post) can you make it so it automatically sets the focus to
    the article tree view?

I keep on clicking in the groups window, pressing enter x2 to get new
posts, press N or similar, press cursor up/down to get to the
previous/next post and it changes group. (and then run round showing
all posts, sort unthreaded by author to find what I just missed and
wanted to reply to! :) (yes I know I should use N and P but keep on
reverting to the cursor keys - OE throwback :)
Is it free? I used to use Borland Pascal (for DOS) a lot.

Decent tree control... a free one... <dons thinking hat>

Hmm. The MkII are rather lardy so unless you're talking Turbo or TII here,
they're a bit on the glacial side for a sports car.

Turbo IIs are deceptively quick, but don't necessarily feel that way. MkIIIs
(the FD series) is *brutally* quick, and that's before people starting
    throwing goodies at them.
Hmm. It may be that I like what you call "devoid of character" - the linear,
    completely vibration-free power delivery.

Mind ewe, I'd really appreciate if they could do it such that you don't need
    your own oil well.
