So i've decided it's time to take my car off the road and get myself a bike.
Having never really ridden before where would be a good place to start?

Im looking for a comprehensive course that teaches you how to ride and also
how to do some defensive riding. Also how are these courses structured? Can
you get your L's straight after doing the course? Is the test written or
    practical?

Thanks for any recommendations you can make.

    cheers.

Just found a place called Ridetek that look pretty good and they're in
Dandenong which isn't too far. Anyone had any experience with these guys?

What sort of silly reponse is that? This guy is asking the RIGHT
questions. He could be saying "I've never ridden before, and my mate
just gave me an unregistered GSXR600 that I wanna ride to work in the
    rain with bald tyres..."

    Fuggin' give him a break.

I went through HART, and was happy with them. They have a number of
centres around Melbourne. Kilsyth would probably be closest to you.

Their website is here -> http://www.hartridertraining.com.au/

Jeez, you could walk through a lot of rehab wards and have no idea what
people were saying when you ask them a question.

I guess it takes all types.
