Ridiculous to the sublime

  1. The rotary Suzukis are right up there, too.

Teach a man to fish and he and his pikey mates will have the
river cleaned out in a day.

I have to agree with you on this but I'll just add that if any
government had put in even a fraction of the amount of cash thrown at
the ailing car manufacturing industry then we might have been able to
produce something to compete with the Japanese manufacturers 30 years
    ago.

But you even see snotter Fizzies going for several hundreds. Classic
Bike has moved into including Jap bikes [1] because they know this
trend will accelerate and there will be less interest in the older
stuff as the people that rode or wanted those older bikes die away.

Agreed, though whether Management would have had the nous to do the
right thing with any cash if it had been forthcoming is another
thing. They really did seem to think they could do no wrong.

Lets compare the same things - snotter Fizzies go for the same sort of
price as snotter Bantams and C15s which they're comparable with in a
    re-live my skanky youth way.

Won't be too long when CB750 K1-K6 will be fetching similar money as
comparable condition Commandos, Tridents and Bonnevilles.

But you don't see Brit snotters go for that kind of dosh either unless
    you're talking Norton Manxes.

Early ones already do, and mint/properly restored sandcast CB750s are
    worth much moolah these days.

Decent H2 Kawasakis already fetch stupid money as do many other
    Japanese bikes with cult status.

A quick scan of Classic Bikes website shows a 10k mile 250 G5 for
    £1800, a 20k mile CBX for £6250, a 28k mile GS850G for three and a
half, and a 250LC for two and a half. There's also a Z1R for just
    under six large.

My current enthusiasm for a change has waned in the last five minutes.

And at a guess, this was exactly the reaction of someone about 20 years
back when Brit Iron started to go up in price...

You point is what exactly? No of course not, and snotter Commandos
don't either. But the point is that the Jap classic market is now
well established and there are bikes from the Jap manufacturers making
    serious money

Different folks, different strokes. I 'd like an Z1100R, I must say.
The white one rather than the green one though.

Aye. I recall a mate buying a good Commando in the late 80s for
£700. He;s still got it, in as much as he owns it though its been a
dismantled pile of rusting bits for many years now. :-(

I'd add CR500 and NR750 to the list. Both utterly ridiculous, but in
    very different ways.
