There was a black interstate down the road when I was a nipper and I
had a mates with a green fastback and a Yellow roadster...

Just one of those things I had to have at least for a while. Maybe
when I have more time/space I'll have another.

Though I have a itch for a Panther M100 that remains unscratched

Well, when the Norton leaves there'll still be one Brit bike i n the
garage, so no need for pretence.

I've slagged pretty much every brit I've owned. The Norton is a badly
designed fossil that should have ceased production years ahead of when
    it did. Doens't matter.

  6. A nice step-through scooter. A pink one. A pink, open-faced helmet to go
    with it, too.
    There's a place for Harleys but I don't think that's Britain.

Can I have that (suitably adjusted for tense) on my gravestone?

  8. Maybe they had the talent but the backing was sadly lacking and any
    future development was scuppered, thus.

BTW, if you've KFd me, that's a shame, 'cos just for one night at least,
    you're making sense to me.

Tomorrow's another day, but, but right now I want to bask in the glory
of feeling god[1] and good it is, my chum.

[1] Originally said good but God's about where it's at I think.

Don't think that the possibility has been completely discounted.

A modicum of garage-cull may be required in order to slip this past Mrs
WUN. It sort of depends on how soon SD envisions its departure. And me
    getting my arse in gear.

    Oh dear.
    I'm not *that* fucking hopeless.

    Hey, I'll be dead.

If you reckon you can get that one past Mrs WUN, you fill your boots,
    old son.

(Hint: She copes with *me*, without apparent effort)

Oh yeah, I should probably make one of those.

    <thinks>

You've still got to get it out of the garage. Don't think she'll be
swayed by a small thing like the UK legal system. She'll *frown* at you.
    But, but, but...

Never have I wished more for there to be an afterlife.

A poultergeist who flicks the kill-switch *just* as you go to set off
each time would quickly lose it's appeal. It'd be easier to just buy
    the bike.

If there is an afterlife, do you think cans of diesel would be

I think that considering the management ineptitude, lack of investment
and development and so on, the British bike industry did amazingly
well to stay on top for so long.

  19. Sadly, they did. We had some of the greatest designers in the world, but
most of the scribbles never reached production. If they had reached the
showrooms they'd still have leaked and broken down, but oh, the
    delightfulness of them.
    <thinks>
I've just described the Italian bike industry.

They're not far off it. Give it a few more years and the collective
nostalgia will move prices ever upwards.

My lockup stuffed with three shitty, fucked, GS550s will be my pension
plan. Hooray for laziness and hoarding.
