  1. Anyone know if they are still in business? Ordered a part from their
website about three weeks ago and there is still no sign of a delivery
and no answer to their telephone or to emails.

Bloody annoying - order placed on the web to save time, then they don't
deliver or let you know what the hell they are doing.

Has anyone had any dealings with this crowd before? Are they usually
reliable or just a bunch of crooks who'll keep my money?

  4. Just spoke to a chap at Widder in the US and he tells me that the owner
has just died in the last couple of weeks. However his wife intends to
    carry on the business.

So, I'll leave the order with her, and I'm sure she'll sort it out when
    she gets orgainised.

Speaking as the proprietor of a web-based business...

....don't write them off just yet. They may very well be doing
business purely on the web or summat. Can you check with Companies
House or similar to see if they've shut totally?

The bike training place is based within the same building and Barray who
owns Riderhouse has a stake in the firm IIRC. You may find he's on
holiday or something equally as daft.

Barray's an OK kind of bloke. I very much doubt that he'd deliberately
    rip anyone off.

**** me! What was the cause of that then? Barray was a good customer and
    a friend.

Paging Badger: Can you find out for me please?

  8. According to some info on his website dated March looks like cancer:

    Barrays Medical Update.
Hell, I must have done something bad in a previous life. It seems to be
one incident after another. At the beginning of the month I got double
vision and was rushed into hospital for a brain scan. This proved all
clear but the sample of fluid they took from the base of my spine
(Lumbar Punch) showed some fluid surrounding the brain had been
affected. Each eye had clear vision except both at the same time. I had
to use an eye patch to make things easier. Treatment was chemotherapy
by Lumbar Punch every week. A week later I got shingles and it was
bloody unpleasant. The worst is over but nerve (burning) pain remains.
After a couple of weeks my vision restored to near normal but within a
couple of days the right side of my face seemed to droop. Similar to
condition called Bells Palsy but likely to be outcome of my
Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Surprisingly more difficult to eat, gargle and
talk properly. At least it amuses the kids. Can't seem to shout at them
with the same conviction. I hope April will be a better month. Thanks
    for all your support.

  11. I can imagine - I only found out last weekend that the chap I used to
work for doing CBT/DAS had died of cancer. Was a bit of a shock.

  12. Perhaps I should change it to 'There but for the grace of God go I'?
That's the way I tend to feel when I hear of people going these days.

It seems to be hitting younger. I bumped into my mates cousin in Asda
a few days back. Same age as me, mid thirties. Saw him as I came in
the door and went to give him a hug as I haven't seen him for a few
months. "hi, not seen you out, everything OK" - 'Not really, I've got
cancer'. Shit, hadn't heard, Vicky didn't say - apparently they've
    only just told family.

He seemed diminshed as I hugged him and was trembling. We had a chat,
he has another round of chemo to go, last lot hit him hard, nausea and
hair gone. Joked about going the loing blonde wig option and head
banging. He says he gets very cold, was in thick leather on warm day.

As he walked off with his mum I realsied that that could be last time
i see him. Then I thought well, that's the same with everyone, you
never know what's going to happen. Life's a **** sometimes.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Barray's death. I was pleased to
support him, and enjoy his support in return, when I was responsible
for the RS Performance Protection range of garments in the mid 1990s
and Riderhouse (then a fairly new retailer to the broader clothing
"game") became a stockist. Barray had fought cancer at this time, and
I thought he had won the battle - particularly as he seemed in such
robust health when I last saw him two or three years ago - so the news
revealed in this thread, and on the Riderhouse website, was a bolt out
of the blue. A 100% genuine, blue-chip nice guy. I am sure those of us
who knew him offer our sincere condolences to Linda and the family.
    RIP Barray.

  15. It appears that the shop is for sale, but Linda intends to continue the
    business via the Internet.
