Yesterday morning I was at work and hard at it when my cell phone rang and it was a friend of mine from the Ninja 250 group. He asked me if I was going to ride in the cellibrate Kawidavis memorible ride. Kawidavis was a member of the Ninja 250 forumn. He was killed on March 27, 2007. He was 14 years old and yesterday was his birthday. His mother requested that all the people that could ride on his birthday would in honor of his life. This friend of mine is from Broken Arrow Okla and was here in Dallas on buisness so he met me at O Conner road and highway 183 in Irving Tx yesterday morning and he and I picked up two more riders and headed to Gainsville Tx where we met some more riders at the mall there. After we all met and ate some lunch at Applebees, we all rode to Ardmore Okla and met Kawidavis's family there in the parking lot of Lowes. We all had a meet and greet for about a hour or so and then we all lined up and rode out and around Lake Murray to one of the parks on the lake. Kawidavis's mother and family brought tons of food so the people that didnt get to eat ate then. She had a birthday cake for her son. Everyone signed a birthday card for him and his mother attached the card to 15 balloons and let it go. It was quite a event. His mother held up remarkable considering just having to bury her son. I dont think any parent should have to bury one of there kids.
From what I understand, Kawidavis was taking a corner and lost control
of his Ninja 250 and was hit by a truck. He was careflighted to the hospital but they lost him right after he arrived. One of the riders that met us there was from Ft. Worth so I decided to leave when he did. He had his 15 year old brother on the back of his ZX6R. I could tell on the group ride that he was kinda squirming on the back of that crotch rocket. We hit I-35 headed back home and stopped at the first gas stop to top off our tanks. I asked that boys brother if he would like to ride on the back of this Goldwing and he gladly accepted my offer. We hit the highway and it wasnt 10 miles and I look back there and he was fast asleep. I gunned it and got up beside his brother and showed him that the boy was asleep. It freaked him out a little so he motioned me to ask if we needed to pull over on the shoulder of the road. I told him no and we went on. That was about a 100 mile run and that boy slept probably 70 miles of it. When we stopped to split up, the boy said to me...."Damn thats a comfortable motorcycle"....I replied in Bill Walker fashion.."Well Yea". We all had a good ride. We didnt get rained on but a few times I wished it would have rained some to cool things off. It was a hot muggy day. Louie and I rode damn near the same ride last week as I did yesterday except I didnt stop at the casino and loose any money..lol. Redshad
