Left Irving about 7:30AM saturday .. I hit MacArthut to I-30 and west to 820.. Joined up with about 10 of the Booze Fighters from Ft.Worth and we meandered on down to I35 south.. Not too much traffic and man, the temps were just perfect.. We got into Waco just before nine and went directly to the hospital.. Damn.. you talking heartbreaker, that's one for the books, people.. We visited several of the buildings where these guys are dormed.. I didn't know that we have veterans there from all parts of the US.. Some in conditions, mentally and physically that are unbelievable.. Some only have what the VA facilities can provide for them.. No family, no homes and very little hope.. When you go into the hospital, they are all happy to see you and they act as if they know you.. (tears)... you bet.. heart wrenching.. you better believe it.. Go ahead Dubya, cut their budget and close that hospital.. It ain't much, but it is all that these heroes have.. Take it.. close it and then go for another photo op with some of the youngsters you have sent in harm's way.. No one had a head count and all I can report is that there were bikers in there from all over the state and even a group from New Orleans was there.. Good turnout and the ride from there to Crawford was impressive.. Rolling Thunder.. I commend you all.. Every one is a hero.. You done good.. Naturally Bush wasn't to be seen, but he was well represented by the high visibility of secret service .. Sad ride home while we reflected on what we have seen and heard.. Kinda heated up on the ride back and I felt a little like a fried potato by the time I got back to Irving.. Happy to report, the trip was uneventful and the ole' green Vulcan purred or roared like a pussycat or a tiger, depending on which side you listened to.. LOL... Have a good one boys and girls..
