A few of us from Midland met with members of the Odessa Sportbike Club
last Sunday for a spirited ride westward to a little ghost town called
Goldsmith. What is in Goldsmith, you ask? Well, not much, that's for
sure. The sole attraction is a shanty-style BBQ bar & grill called The
Buckhorn. On most Sundays when the weather is acceptable, it becomes
sort of a West Texas Mecca for motorcyclists and hot-rodders.

We all met at the Stars drive-in. Pictured are Mike Williams, "Busa"
Dave Hardy, some blonde chick I don't know, John "Dayzer" Day, Elaine
Day, and Nurse Terri. Another 10 or so riders (obviously not pictured)
    showed up, as well:

We arrived at The Buckhorn in the early afternoon. Behold the
    grandeur:

The crowd was unusually small, and for the first time since I can
remember, the sportbikes outnumbered the cruisers:

This photo of me standing by the Green Meanie gives a pretty good idea
of just how abandoned this old town is:

We stayed for an hour or so, then spent the rest of the day riding in
the area. The weather was absolutely perfect. It was 72 degrees,
slightly overcast, and there was no wind whatsoever. Not a bad way to
    spend a Sunday afternoon.

    Cheers,

Looks like you had a good time. I haven't been on a group ride in
quite some time. I need to do that again, soon. :-S
