Ride out complete: Being forced off the road by a car

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by BGN, Mar 25, 2006.

  1. I wouldn't disagree with that , but with bikesafe the instructors are all
police motorcyclists so you get the benefit of their experiences techniques
    etc
without the pain of learning the hard way , on and off (more off) i have
been riding for over 20 years its amazing how many bad or lazy habits you
    get into
certainly improved my ridding skills (then again that wouldn't have taken
    much )

  3. Not a good situation to put yourself in either the driver is likely to
panic take both you and your bike down and have half a dozen cagers as
    witness to your actions

I think it's bloody good that I didn't do it and which is why I said
the best option would have been to let him pass.

He'd have run over the bike. So I'd never do that, if you're going to
get off the bike make sure it's out of the way. But You described
stopping at one point with a car in front and behind you and him to
the right IIRC? I'd have done it then because he couldn't move.

Remember, you're a big bloke and you're wearing body armour.

I suppose. I'm just not the violent type.

Also: Did you know that Microsoft have stolen the design of your
website to use on their own?

  8. To be fair, he was probably more angry that he had to drive a fucking
yellow car; I know I would be.

Well there was... the guy whose head reportedly swelled to three times its
normal size recently when he had a bad reaction to the drugs being tested on
    him, for one.

'Kin 'ell, I had to read that twice, and then recheck I was reading the
    right newsgroup!

    Constructive postings, *and* politeness!!!!
This is the whole point though, your situation wasn't just about your
riding skills, but about your entire way of life. You see, you are doing
the same thing here as you were while riding.

This is just UKRM, you'll get some helpful replies, and mostly unhelpful
ones, you just need to learn when not to bite.

It was only polite so it would highlight the shittier paragraph posted
    below
I would have thought Darsy would have used bait that stank less. I
have, of course, taken on board what you've said but I'm unlikely to
change my entire way of life because of a post from Darsy, although
the prospect does make me inwardly chuckle.

I had splinters of glass in my hand for days after not taking a van

Obviously, using a boot is a much better option except on the new Minis:
    Tough as ****, they are.
