And how is the WUN Teddy bear doing?

I kind of wished I'd had him with me the other day when I failed to
appropriately judge a bend - still made it round on my side of the road
    though :)

Not riding the bike for a few months appears to make one's skills a tad
    rusty.

On the positive side, there was no fence and I would have gone straight
into a muddy field so it potentially could have looked like I'd meant
    to do it.

    Potentially.

    The teddy's dead, Dave, dead...
Not going fast enough then, were you?
    Heh.

Of course not - this is me we're talking about - I finally manage to
get above walking pace and look what happens!

I take it this is some sort of uncharacteristically bitchy poof

I interpreted it as Paul making (usually) sensible, useful suggestions
    which Nick interprets as lecturing.

    Is that the same thing?

We can't say for certain, but it's probably a fair bet I haven't, no.

You forgot the bacon butties, cups of tea and slices of cake, too, all
provided along with a warm welcome by Dave and his better half.

  12. Thanks - really nice to know that my time at the keyboard achieves such
    a high level of appreciation.

  14. I've had riding advice and instruction from several different people.
Dave is by the far the best.

He is not judgmental. He listens. He is highly experienced. He is
objective and balanced. He is so laid back it is unreal which helps to
calm any nerves you may be feeling. He takes time to understand your
riding, how you want to improve and will work to meet your requirements.

There is no sense of pressure about achieving some list of objectives
but you end the weekend a much better rider than you start. It's good
value for money and it is fun.

I spent a day with Dave and the much missed Mat Tab from this group. Mat
was a loon on a bike but also a very experienced rider. I think that day
was one of the best days I have ever spent on a bike - what more can I
    really say?
I have not seen WC ride so these comments may be a bit unfair - I'm not
criticising in case you or WC think I am. While he will have lots of
experience of London traffic and how to dodge through it he may not
necessarily convey a sound set of principles as to how to handle such
situations. You will only deal with a small subset of traffic
conditions riding in dear old London town. Dave will take you on a full
mix of roads which will put your riding under the microscope in all of
those conditions. I'd say that spread of riding is more likely to be of
help to you based on the events you have shared with ukrm.

WC is not a qualified trainer, he is also not a police motorcyclist with
decades of experience. WC may also get close to Mr Corden's chill out
level after several pints of tea / alcohol but he's unlikely to be as
chilled out on a bike. There's no harm with getting some pointers from
a friend but you may simply pick up bad habits rather than give your
riding a clear and firm foundation on which to build your experience and
    reduce your risk of accidents.

For sure. Everyone I've spoken to who's had training from him has
    said how good he is.

That's because Paul generally does display a lot of transference-style
characteristics towards me. Paul doesn't generally offer me advice in
its purest form, he generally tells me off placing me in positions
that he's been in before and he therefore associates me with either
himself or someone else that he has known that something similar has
happened to in the past and assumes that they happen for the same
    reasons.

Transference is the kind of thing that people do when they meet a
total stranger, but they treat the stranger differently because they
remind them of someone they know or knew and, as such, make
assumptions about their lifestyle or their way of thinking or doing
things without giving them chance to exhibit any such things. This
    isn't always a bad thing.

Flattered. To me that means you might be a bit of a perfectionist and
perhaps look upon certain types of advice and training as a waste of
money. Having the Corfield Seal of Approval would mean that it's
advice/training of a good quality and represents good value for both
time and money. I may, however, be talking total utter shit.

  19. With no offence to WC, I suspect that it wouldn't be close to what Dave
Corden could do for you. Sure, you might learn some stuff, sure he might
be able to give you some pointers.

When was the last time you heard anyone from here speak highly of WC's
riding skill and communicative techniques? Come to think of it, name one
person on this group who gets such praise on anything like a regular basis?

Googlegroups for Dave Corden, then make your mind up.

Personally, if dwb organises another round of weekends, I think you'd be
mad not to sign up - it's a bargain price, a lovely weekend touring the
countryside of England and Wales, probably a Severnside posse beer event
and on top of that, you might learn a few things[1].

[1] you'll certainly be taught them, the rest is up to you.
