Rg 500 education

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by RG_500fanatic, Mar 7, 2006.

  1. How can anyone who truly knows 2 strokes make crazy proclimations about
the parity between an Rg500 and a RD/RZ500. By design th Suzuki is the
far superior machine. Let alone the exotic materials used for the
chasis. The Rz was a poor example or a GP replica. There was
absolutely no performance with this bike. Yes OVERWEIGHT and
underpowered. The brakes were and still are pathetic. What Suzuki
offered wa a true GP experience! Mind blowing acceleration great
breaking for the time and a bike that you had better learn to respect
in a hurry! The RZ gives you manageable power and little of it,
whearas The RG gives you an explosion that is very difficult to handle
especially in the twisties. All that aside how can you not fall in love
with a bike that has all this mystique. It was the fastest 2 stroke
ever offered for street use! When introduced there were no 750 that
could touch it in the quarter mile including the beautiful GSX R! Now
let the Naysayers have their turn...i'll get the coffee out!

I think that the reason the RD was preferred by many was the breaking of
    the RG.
Oh, I wish I had the time to maintain either, because if I did I'd
probably buy one; and probably the RG. However, for practical reasons
    I'd prefer a ZXR750H1.

As a long-term RD fan, I prefered the RG.
