What do I have to do for you to love me, porl?

    I'll do anything.

Your reply was infantile. So I gave you the ultimate childish
    response.

Does this mean you're ditching the Cumbrian gloom?

    Yeah...I know. Sorry it's not you, it's me. I don't feel I'm ready to
commit to your slightly lacklustre brand of trollery.

I doubt it. Probably just had that norovirus and lost a few stone.

I shall, for the foreseeable future, be remaining in Cumbria, which
itself can impart considerable gloom - the wettest inhabited place in
the British Isles is not that far from here, but you know that.
However, I am attempting to adjust my mindset a bit (the screwdriver
in the ear didn't quite work); recent medical results show
considerable room for optimism (nothing serious, but HbA1c level of
5.7 is always good) and the doc reckons the weight isn't that serious
an issue, as long as I keep taking the statins. I just need to keep
thinking positively, and wish for a decent summer this year.

Oh, and all you cheap types out there, keep buying my employer's
products - I'm quite attached to my regular income, and would like to
    keep it that way.

Although I could stand to lose a stone or two, I haven't managed that,

thoughts, like Hamas catching up with D*s...

5.7 - that's not even a sugar mong is it?
I did. It's a shame I've got to go all the way to fucking Lydney to find
any, mind. At least they do leather trews in short, fat **** sizes unlike
    that German mob.

It's temporary, the little niggles are being sorted by judicious
application of phrases like "**** off and stop coming onto me".

You live in the wrong bit of Cumbria, to be honest. My mood always
lift immensely when I visit my mate who lives near Bowness.

There's really no reason to get depressed if an attractive young thing
makes her intentions clear. Most chaps would find it cheered them up,
    I'd have thought.

And don't think we're not grateful this side of the Pennines.

I guess I agree - if the attractive young thing was disinclined to
take no for an answer, then that could get quite tiresome.

Can't see it being the latter, though... Yes, the Lake District is a
bloody gorgeous place when it isn't full of you bloody southern
tourists (!) and/or pissing it down royally. I always try to have a
few days out playing on the Bandit in the Lakes, as it's sort of my
back yard, although it's often said people don't appreciate what's
right in front of them, familiarity breeding contempt and all that.
There are many other places a short ride from here just as good for
biking, clearing the mind or whatever takes your fancy - I'd love the
opportunity to show a few of you the area.

    Where I live is here:

    It could be far worse.
