Reading Bear's "cornering" post made me think about how I've grown to enjoy
my new tyres, Continental Road Attacks.

This is the first time I have put a pair of "absolutely no off-road
    pretensions" tyres on my R-GS.

They have been on the bike a month now and done about 800 miles.

The main difference between these tyres and the Tourance/Distanzia/Annakee
type is the speed of the steering. The bike rolls into corners with minimal
effort rather than flopping. Then there's the stability when leant over,
for GS levels of stability, that is. You still need loads of counter-steer
to keep the thing from going straight on, but it all seems more
controllable and thus smoother. As Bear noted, the smoothness allows you to
accelerate out of the corners faster.

On the way to Dover for the TOGtour they performed well in the wet at
    motorway speeds.

Over the last couple of years my riding has gone to pot. These tyres have
made the R-GS great fun to ride again and I'm enjoying the (re)learning
curve. Now, if I could only get back to the confidence level I had when I
    owned the NX650 & TDM850...

If you have an ADV type bike then ditch your faux trail tyres and get a
pair of Road Attacks. Oh, and Hog thinks they look pretty.

Oh, and Hog thinks they look pretty. So do I.

I also think I need to learn to ride my bike properly.
Bear's monologue contains much information that I was simply
    not aware of.

    Let's have some more please.

They are fucking ace on track as well. the ones on my CBR have done 4
trackdays and still grip as well as they did when new. When they start
to get a bit leery I'll swop them onto my SV and put the KR364 race
tyres on the CBR. It's handy having 2 bikes with identical tyre sizes.

I think if you're going engrave something like that onto a ring, it
should at least read "**** Attack".

There's one at Donington on a Saturday coming up on July 5th with
No-Limits. Danny will be instructing and I'll be there. Check the
    website for details

If you're going to do either of those two I can highly recommend
Oulton. I love Donington though, it's a real cracker of a circuit and
    very fast and flowing.

Oulton is just sublime though and by far my favourite circuit so far,
with Donington GP a close second and Silverstone GP third. The whole of
Oulton gets me, even the silly chicanes they've installed.

    Interesting report.

My GS feels so much lighter and flickable than the AT, for the type of
bike it is I don't think I want it to steer a lot quicker than it does
    ATM.

Both AT & GS have Tourance tyres on.

The AT is very lazy, but I wasn't all that happy riding it
enthusiastically after I rode off the tyres on the FOT.
