    Can anyone explain this?

On my 97 speed triple, the rev counter needle tends to dart around
wildly, even when the revs are constant. I cant work out why it is
doing this, and its not a serious problem because I rarely look at it
anyway, just may be a problem when I want to sell. Anyone got any
suggestions on how to fix it?

Check the connectors on the #2 coil next time you're in the area.

  11. On my bike (Yamaha Fazer) the rev counter doubles up as a fault finder. The
variations on the needle tel me about a possible fault on the bike.

May not be the same on yours but definately worth a look in the manual I
    owuls have thought.

So how does that work then? Is it when going along or just on start up?

    Excellent.

As you raised the subject mentioned manuals and the usefulness of
reading them, please let me be one of those to bring to your attention
the one for ukrm. It is call the ffaq by some and the faq by others.
In addition there is a cbt (our little joke). Both are really well
worth reading if you wish to have a hassle free start to your stay here.

  14. <snip>

The FFAQ (why 2 F's though?) say:

    "
The charter can be seen in full at
http://www.usenet.org.uk/uk.rec.motorcycles.html but there are really only
two essential points to observe which are:

    Commercial advertising is forbidden
Adverts are allowed but only from individuals selling privately.

    Binaries are not permitted
but you can post binaries to a binary group
or (even better) on a web page and post the URL to ukrm. "

Thanks for the welcome by the way.

go away and read section 1.8, posting style

and then come back, post at the bottom, learn to snip and remove sigs.
