And how much held at a steady 60mph? and 50, 40, 30? If you're going
to invent^Wquote stuff like this you should really present it as if
you've researched it a bit more.

As it happens, I did do some such research on the way home last night
in the Peugeot, confriming the results I quoted yesterday, with a
    steady 90kph giving 40mpg and 50kph 58mpg.

only if you compare apples with oranges.

If you compare a sports bike with a car roughly equivalent in it's
manufacturers line-up, then you'll not be looking at a "small family
car" - your ZX6R is perhaps equivalent to a Mitsubishi Evo.

If you want to compare running costs to a "small family car" lets say
a Honda Civic 1.4 or something, then you'd need to compare that to -
    at best - a GS500E or something.

    heh.

one of my contractors can't seem to accept that his "it's a 2 litre
'Type R', you know!" Honda Civic is chickwheels...

Well just as an example, my car and bike are approximately the same age.
(car just over 6 years old and bike just under. Both 'R' plates.)
The car's new price was > ukp18000 although I bought it when it was two
years old for ukp12500. It's now worth about ukp5000.

The bike new was ukp9400 and is now worth < ukp3000.

So not a great deal in percentage terms over 6 years.
However, I bought the bike the year before prices tumbled due to
the manufacture's combatting parallel imports which obviously
affected the residual value in the first year and has knock on
    effects now.
    I think you're right.

I nearly did the follow up to that quite literally with two Hondas and
a BMW, as the CD fell off the two bricks I had it propped up on with
    no back wheel...

  10. Have you seen the new advert for the Civic (I think it's the civic).

The theme of the advert is that if technology works really really
well, you forget its technology and just use it. The advert is close
up shots of kettles, alarm clocks, taps, light bulbs, bic biros etc.
etc. with about 3 seconds of a Honda.

I read the advert as "Hondas are so dull you won't remember using it"

But isn't that the point of all Hondas?

They start, they stop, they're reliable....

If you want to look interesting wear a hat.

To be fair to her, it wasn't actually in a ditch, it was still on the
road. But some of the bits that were on the road weren't designed to be
on the road, and some of the bits that were designed to be on the road,
    weren't. IYSWIM.

I've found wearing more than one at a time gets you funny looks.

Actually, wearing any of my hats gets funny looks.

    (fx:aside) go on then, Ace...

I used to have a Fedora. Currently my only "proper hat" is a fur
    Astrakhan. I don't think you'd approve.

Oh, and I have a knitted tea-cosy-with-big-ear-flaps affair too.
