    There's also signs you can post to protect your property and still allow people
    access. They say something like 'Permission to by permission and subject to
    control of owner' and they refer to Section 1008 of the Civil Code (In Santa
    Cruz at least). You see them along some of the beaches and on some public
    buildings. I'm no lawer either, but from what I was able to look up, that
    basically says 'You're allowed to pass though here, but you can't assume you
    always will be allowed to, or claim squatters rights or somesuch.'.
