Since I can't see that anyone has mentioned this already, you could try
Googling "circadian rhythm" perhaps with "reset" or somesuch. Initial
search results seem to agree with the FOAKs that melatonin = good:-

"... a morning dose of acebutolol and an evening dose of melatonin ..."

    Mmm...!

Any good? I've got a large trophy downstairs due to being the
runner-up in the Indies last season.

I would've won it if the finals night hadn't been held when I was at
    the TT...

I find that once my body clock is where I need it to be I can't go "off
program", so I have to get up early on weekends and holidays too.

I fucked this up over Chrimbo and am really struggling to get back into
    the correct ryhthm.

Use a horribly loud alarm (an old twin bell one resting on something
metal) set fairly earlyish and drink a can of Relentless upon waking
(possibly the only energy drink to quote Byron on the can...). This
doesn't fix things immediately, but it stops things getting out of
hand, and sustained over time can help fix things.

If you really want to start things again, just pull an all nighter,
then go to bed damn early.

This happens to me all the time, as on school days, I can't sleep for fear
that the lessons aren't prepared sufficiently. So I'm rarely up any later
than five am. That means that once I get home after lunch (my classes
finish at 1 pm on Monday and Friday, and by 3 pm on Tuesdays), I conk out
for three hours. Of course, when I get back up at four or five pm, it
means that I'm still bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at midnight, one am, two
    am ...

    And that cycle continues...

My best method so far is to do as you suggest, i.e. stay up for a whole
night and day, and go to bed in the evening. Be careful, though, not to go
to bed _too_ early, as it's tempting to think, 'I'm tired enough to sleep
for a week..' If you flake out at seven pm, chances are you'll be back up
by two am and the whole rigmarole will recommence.

As an _aparté_, I'm only now realising that my pre-conceptions concerning
teaching were .. premature. We get tons of holidays, true, but we earn
them! Teaching eats your life up. When I'm not physically standing in
front of my pupils, I'm thinking about them. When I'm not in class, I'm
preparing stuff for them. Every event that occurs, I'm subconsciously
asking myself if it can be recounted in class, to illustrate a particular
grammatical point. I believe that this is the reason for the change in my
sleeping patterns: by four am, my mind is already starting to worry that
everything's not just 'so', for the day's classes.

This is the most tiring job I've ever done; far, far, _far_ more tiring
    than UNIX.
