request advice for a new CBT

    Hi All,

I have just completed my CBT, and trying to figure out what to do next?.
Requirements I've are fairly simple, I need to ride my bike on motorway to
commute to work and back. Here is my concern!

To be frank, It was a nervous wreck process for me going through my CBT, due
to the difficult I had in change the gear. I had never ridden a motor bike
before( just a bicycle), this was an experience and bicycle ridding helped
me towards keeping the balance of the bike on the road. ( I can ride a
scooter with out any problems!!and it's brilliant)

The instructor advice was to come back to the school for next 3/4 days to
continue the practice and complete the full motor bike licence( which I am
all for it), but I don;t think this will give me enough practice to get
    through the practical test.

I am thinking of purchasing a used bike( which has gears) to ride around for
practice and once confident with this process, go back to the school and
    complete the course.

Looking through the magazines, I had found number of bikes, but not sure
which one would suite me for this purpose ( I have been told to get a bike
with engine size less than 125cc). Any ideas? or recommendations. Can I
purchase a bike for learning/practice? which make and model would people
recommend for this purpose?, can I use my CBT licence to ride the bike on
the road( I am aware that, I have to stick a L plate)?.

Any advice and wisdom from the grown up bikers will be greatly appreciated.

    thanks in advance
    Harry

Did my CBT in May, like you 1st time on a bike, gears were dire, stress or
    wot!

Did DAS (3 days intensive hard work, but instruction excellent) and passed
    test in July.

Got me a 650, done 3.5k on it since mid July, would recommend DAS route,
    motorways are fine now!

    Regards
    Bill

PS Driving a car is SO boring now!

    Baits breath ;)
Maybe, maybe not. I'm inclined to think that it will. It seems that *most*
people can pass DAS with that much training. I did it with less, and
broken up over weekends and week days. I suspect that more immersive
training would be more effective. TBH I was sure I'd failed
I did this sort of. I already owned a 125 and had been riding that for
bout 6 months. This may account for my passing DAS.
I think you'll find that is the legal limit
Yes, you can ride on the road, but not the motorway.
Honda CG125(MSOHP) or a copy is well regarded. Personally I had a Honda
MTX125 that was great when it worked.
Not so much grown up as early teens perhaps with me. Just been over 2.5
    years.

    Not *another* one....

No offence here, but even keeping the ashes seems downright weird to me.
