Is there any such thing as a standard/preferred/right way to go
replacement screw for Tokico calipers? Mine have gone skanky:

.....and I'd like to tidy them up. I have found a site for Namrick (?)

    http://www.namrick.co.uk/browse.asp?PCID=10

and see that a likely (not measured yet) stainless would be about 40p a
pop - the local bike shop (friend of mine-supposedly..???) has quoted a
minging *4 quid each* for 'Suzuki Replacement Parts!!

    Any pointers greatly appreciated!

  2. find out what spec the bolts are. If they're especially high tensile, you
may need to keep the same spec.

bear in mind that ordinary stainless is not as strong as high-tensile. A2-70
is not bad, but not as high spec as high tensile 8.8 spec. A4-80 is pretty
    close.

Asides from that, pull a screw, determine what thread and length, then go to
    a screw-and-bolt shop.

    Good point, see below....

Thanks for that Austin, but I've discovered my 'friend' had got two sets
on his computer (checkout, presumably) and has finally caught a clue
(owes me one or two) so it looks like I can get the *real thing* for a
lot less than the 4 quid each figure!! (Like he get's them at 'staff
rates' and I get 'em for nowt!)

The tensile strength issue is not trivial and I'm advised that, after
torquing down, stainless steel can hairline crack with with vibration
during use?? Whether or not that is the case, it's not one to take a
chance on - especially if it could jeopardise an insurance claim in the
    future!!

I've put stainless bolts in many brake calipers for years, never thought
twice about the grade as they are usually M10 or 12ish. Never had a
    problem.
