    Well to start off with it was a jaunt across Europe and the Middle East to save Jerusalem (who had
    been "saved" by the Egyptians by the time the Crusaders got there). But it lost it's way and
    somewhere down the track the act of killing and maiming and looting became penance and a gateway to
    heaven.

    And many Crusaders didn't care who they killed, Christian, Jew, Muslim. Multi-cultural slaughter was
    the in thing. :-/
