Replacement coil on 650 yamaha twin

I bought a replacement coil for my 1980 650 twin from Mike's XS. The
original coil mounts to the frame horizontally so that the right side
wire is on the right and the left side is on the left. The mount holes
on the replacement coil are turned 90 degrees from the original.
Therefore the replacement mounts vertically so that both wires are on
the right (or left) depending on which side you choose to mount it on.
    My question is this.

Does is matter which coil wire goes to the right and/or left cylinder?
Do they both fire at the same time? Should I just hold the new coil in
the same relationship as the original and then mount it to the side I
    choose?

Any and all help greatly appreciated....................Paul Mon
