I need to remove my fuel tank to find out where a hose clamp fell off from.
I can't tell looking in from underneath, so I think this is the best way to
get a view of it all.

The tank is nearly full and I'd rather do it without emptying it, if
    possible.

Clymer gives the procedure for removing the tank and says you only need to
disconnect a) the fuel hose from the valve and b) the fuel tank breather
    hose.

Can this be done without losing fuel all over the place? Or am I better off
    siphoning it all out first?

(Yes, lots of questions, but I'm a newbie - I'm learning!)

    TIA

I'm open to that, but of all the places a clamp could fall from, what's the
worst that could happen from riding without first identifying that problem?
I think it's manual. I only has ON, OFF, and REServe.
I'll pull that first, then. It shounds like that would be an easier check.
After two years and almost 2500 miles? I guess anything is possible. The day
before I washed and dried the bike by hand. I suppose it could have shook
something loose while I was trying to get in all the crevices.

    Thanks a lot!

Cough splutter and the engine stops or you get a sudden drop in power there

to much mate while its working dont stuff with it LOL
