HJad a quick google and it does not seem to have been covered for a while.

I am considering sticking a remould on the XJ900.

    Opinions[1], good/bad/indifferent please.

    [1] On remoulds, not XJ900s

  2. I know f**k all about remoulds but I'm pleased to hear they're cheap
enough to make it even worth thinking about it? How much?

It's a bike, do you want to risk it? Avons are quite cheap in the
scheme of things and they last for ages.

I'm led to believe, Tomahawk retreads are the dogs danglies. Couldn't find
'em in my size when I was looking though.
And for all the non-believers out there, IALTB that nearly all race cars (f1
etc) and most race (team) bikes run retreads of some form or another.

I acquired a Rover 214 with remoulds on the rear and the tread was visibly
starting to lift at the edges. I got shot of them sharpish. I don't trust
    them. Just my personal feeling.

    Yes, http://www.maxsport.co.uk/
    and spotted
    http://www.sowdentyres.co.uk/cheap-motorcycle-tyres.html

But neither seem to do the sizes I want :-(

It looks like they are only for the "fast" boys.

Not a great range, and they seem to aimed at the sports bikes. Depends on
    what you call cheap.

Has he had a look at Maxxis tyres?
They seem to get good reviews lately.
Not sure if they do the right size though. Seems to be a problem nowadays.

  13. The only ones I'm aware of are private entrant rally cars. Still, their
tyres don't get an easy life and Colway seem to be fairly consistently
    featured in that.

One or two are using them in the road legal hill climb class. In fact
last year's 1300 open and road legal winner was on them. Gripped like
shit to a blanket he reckoned. He also used to ride the R1 on the road
and they didn't last long as you can guess. Not sure I fancy them though
unless I had a spare set of wheels to put them on for hill climb use
    only.

    Grimly Curmudgeon () gurgled happily,
sounding much like they were saying :
More because you can't get such chunky treads in "normal car" sizes from
    anywhere but Colway...

  16. Ok. I haven't heard anything bad about them all the same.
Fwiw, I've used Colway remoulds in the past and never had any trouble
    from them.
