Rossi wins, Gibernau second (with a face like a smacked arse), Capriossi
    third, Edwards fourth. McWilliams 14th

Lead changed a couple of times on final lap. All jolly exciting.

I actually got the impression that he was keeping tight-lipped because he
was frustrated about the bike in some respect but didn't want to badmouth
the team while at the same time being pissed off at Rossi taking him so
expertly. Especially as Rossi now refers to him as "Gibernau" instead of
"Sete" which seems to be a thinly-veiled gesture of disrespect (although he
is still referred to by Gibbers as "Valentino"). But he definitely didn't
seem to make as much up the straight as you might have thought. If Rossi
takes him in Spain for the fun of it he should be even more dischuffed.

If the bloke had been any sort of man, he would have had his
end-of-race comments prepared along the lines of "I done me best,
'Arry, but I had Valentino Rossi on me case and I couldn't argue with
that. I'd just like to thank my team, my manager and God for letting
me finish in one piece. Oh, and well done Valentino, watch yer arse
next season." But he didn't, he wheedled and whinged. OK, he has a
problem with Rossi, but it ain't no shame being beaten by a riding
    god.

Porl has the right of it, the bloke's a ****.

My fault, not exactly what I meant. I was guessing that he was feeling that
about Rossi/Rossi's team. Being second best in the most exacting and testing
motorcycle road race series on the face of the planet isn't really too
damning I would have thought. But if he feels like he's being let down by
his team then maybe that's why he's so uptight atm.

Isn't the satellite team more of a reference to Honda and their apparent
reluctance to share the top notch HRC components with the team that is
doing best? While I can sort of understand that they would wish to
concentrate efforts on the official team it seems a tad short sighted of
Honda not to swallow their pride and help the best performing Honda
riders - assuming, of course, that they do actually want to win the
championship in terms of top rider, top team and top constructor.

On balance the Moviestar and Camel teams would seem to have done far
better than the HRC Repsol team although Barros has shown some
reasonable form of late. I don't think Sete would criticise his team -
he has lobbed a few remarks in the direction of Honda during the season
and isn't alone in doing that.

Gibernau has always struck me as someone who is a very good rider but
who needs a huge amount of personal motivation to really, really perform
to a level that compares to the amazing skill of someone like Rossi who
is a "natural" champion - if such people exist.

I don't really have a favourite rider or team as I think many of the
riders display simply awesome riding skills. If you look at today's race
then you cannot fail to be amazed at the feats performed by Rossi,
Gibernau, Capirossi, Edwards, Tamada, Barros and Biaggi. It's a shame we
couldn't see the whole race again but concentrating on positions 6 to
    10.

A bit like Julian Dicks never playing in the left of defence for
England, because Stuart Pearce was almost omnipresent. Except when
Pearce was injured in about 95, and Glenn Hoddle said that he wouldn't
pick Dicks because Dicks had a shaved head. I despise Glenn Hoddle.

That's the good thing about racing, you can favour whoever you think
deserves your support for whatever reason without feeling particularly
partisan about it. In the future we'll have interactive controls that let us
choose the camera angles we want to see when we want to see them. And there
won't be any ad breaks causing me to switch over to the Beeb and listen to
those antipodean twats talk Sete Gibberish.

Someone's just posted to the Thunderace list complaining at a post
headed "MotoGP Result". Etiquette, apparently, demands that it should
have been headed "Spoiler:MotoGP Result", for the benefit of those who
hadn't seen the race yet. What a good system - I think we should all
    adopt it.

Whilst I accept the above and would welcome its adoption, I really
don't think that it goes far enough, tbh. I don't suppose I'm alone
in sitting down in front of the old PC of a Sunday morning, coffee in
hand and toast balanced somewhat precariously on knee, and opening my
newsreader. In a less than organised, cogent or even coherent
    condition.

I rarely look at thread titles, or the thread pane (unless I seek
something in particular). Wherever the cursor starts, so do I -
usually halfway down the thread list, I suppose. Then I click or
spacebar down through from post to post, slipping from one thread to
the next as they are read. Then I come across something that reads
"Rossi wins, Gibernau T-bones Fogarty" and it is burned into my
subconscious instantly, whether I've actually paid attention to it or
not , regardless of the header or thread title I've already got it in
    my head.

If the post read something like "MotoGP result spoiler 30 lines below,
skip if you don't want to read it YTC" - then I may save myself the
grief of reading results I want to unfold in front of me whenever the
BBC grant a viewing of the race. If I incompetently skip down the 30
lines in my somnambulistic state and read the result, then I really
have no-one else to blame but myself. No problem.

That would work for me. "Spoiler" in the thread title in itself is
really insufficient, imho. WavyDavy doing what he did on Sunday
    morning was quite cuntish, imo.

No, Eurosport spoiled it by showing it itself. There I was happily watching
away when the final lap comes up and, before you know it, they blatantly
showed the finish without any warning whatsoever! I was hoping to watch the
finish at a later date after a suitable period of enforced anticipation.
