Possibly the most vicious game ever invented. Well, with one or two
    obvious exceptions.

Let me get this right - your dad is veggie, but your mum isn't?

That's very unusual (veggie man in relationship with non-veggie
woman). And buggers up LloydianAspects theory a bit, too.

  10. See Colin's answer.

Before we were married, we were playing croquet with some friends next
door to my parent's then home.

And I play rather, um, unprincipled croquet, and took no prisoners with
her (she was on the opposing side, natch). And she burst into tears,
lobbed her croquet mallet over a hedge like it was a caber, and stomped
off to cry on my mother's shoulder, and *she* gave me a bollocking for
    "being mean".

    *Helpless shrug*

  11. Indeed. And people think it's a game for genteel old ladies and retired
    vicars.

Well, it is, but they're *vicious* old ladies and retired vicars.

I was veggie, L wasn't. Rob started that way, as I usually cooked.

I'd have to grudgingly agree, but only cos there are horses involved.

  19. I'll have you know we've been married for 27 years now. Or maybe 28. I
    forget.

    <Thinks>

Graduated in 1980, so it wasn't then, 1981 I was at law college, so it
wasn't then. So it must have been the year after. 27 years. Right. On
    September 6th. Or 5th. Yes, 5th, because the 6th is The Daughter's
    birthday.

    OK, 5 September 1982.

  20. Well, it was touch & go for a while. Especially after the
end-of-law-college party, which was held in our flat.
