One possible rational reason is that if you feed her say a bacon
sarnie, & she thinks it's the best thing ever, she'll start nagging mum
to make bacon sarnies when you're not around. Mum says no, daughter
    throws strop etc etc.

    MMMmmmmmmmm! Bacon sarnies!!!!

As a side note I once had to deal with feeding vegetarians at a party and
went to great expense and effort to obtain meat free products. Linda
McCartney Vegie stuff if I remember rightly.

They threw a strop on the grounds that it tasted like it had meat in it.

Not sure it's relevant tbh. That's more of an out-hole than an in-hole
and has neither teeth nor tastebuds.

there are times that reading UKRM whist on conference calls doesn't
work too well, this was one of those times. now having to explain why
i was laughing to people with little sense of humour.

I have already made the greatest contribution to the fight against climate
change that I can make: I have decided not to breed. Now quit bugging me and
go and talk to the Catholics.

Either you've missed the point or I have. I'm not taking bets, though.
My thoughts were parallel to the old saying about one man's meat being
    another man's poison.

A friend of mine moved his girlfriend in, a while back.
He was dismayed to discover that he'd suddenly developed a
dislike for marmalade. A fact brought to his attention by
his new SO throwing his stock out and informing him that
    he'd never liked it anyway.

    Heh.

I'm having a bit of a fridge clear-out at the moment, given a) one of
the two fridges broke and I don't want to replace it until we re-do
thewhole kitchen and b) J's away for ten weeks, so I have the chance
to throw out all the old shit that's been sitting at the back of the
shelves for the last five years.

My sister's m-i-l is from SW India where vegetarianism is common. Her
husband is from the North and expects meat with his meals. She manages to
cook wonderful curries without ever tasting the finished dish.
