    Try this.

Two of Pat's daughters are veggie, but they both include meat in their
children's diets. Although they've never verbalised their reasoning,
I'm sure their argument would be that whether or not to eat meat is a
matter of conscience, rather than morals or ethics, and so should be
left up to the individual (however young) without coercion. Pat's
common sense coming through there, I think.

Absolutely. Meals can be battlefields at the best of times.

By chance, the JW's came door knocking here this morning. Janet opened
the door and before they could say a word they were told in no
uncetain terms how far away they should go, that they wouldn't want
her because she had a transfusion, (several in fact) and that they're
a bunch of time wasting, child killing freaks. The looks on their
faces was great. I thought they would have been used to it by now but
    these ones were shocked.

Something that's always amazed me. I remember one ski trip where the
chalet girl (well, actually she was in her 50s and a good 'friend' of
the owner/operator) would cook gourmet dinner-party type food every
night for a dozen or so guests. Sh e too was a veggie, and I just
couldn't work out how she could get it so right so much of the time
without ever tasting what she was cooking.

I guess it's just close adherence to a known formula, but I couldn't
    cook like that.

What's this? Neal Champion actually being bothered by the food he's
    presented with? Whatever next!

I think it'll be an interesting marker of exactly how keen she is to
    move in with you.

Personally if Pat had even hinted at "you're not moving in with me if
you want to keep meat in the fridge" then I'd have walked. Perfect in
other respects she may be, but my being more important to her than a
number of things, including a meat-free fridge, would've been be a
sine-qua-non. You are what you are - you can compromise but you can't
    change.

[1] religion, politics - it's a wonder anyone gets married.

Bait? Hardly. Just pointing out your lack of consistency yet again.
You could learn a leeson or two from Hog:- if you're going to create a
usenet persona you really have to live the part, nothing less than
    100% compliance is acceptable.
I note that it's now "when" rather than "if". Or was that just a
    Freudian slip?

Just get a relabelling machine and pretend it's all some fancy new

<g> Seeing it's old joke time. your bride entering the church for her
wedding sees the aisle, then the alter, then you. For the rest of her
    life it's "Aisle, alter, you".

Same with my wife. She'll cook meat, just not eat it. She has no
moral or ethical objections to meat, she just doesn't like it.

    Easily fixed.

*Only* put meat products in the fridge and buy fresh veg as you need
    it.

question. Or have I just missed it?

Hmm. I suppose that's ok for one day, as long as things are back to
    normal tomorrow.

We've had this discussion (unsurprisingly) regarding Dan, and I put my
foot down a bit. He's getting a complete balanced diet, including
meat, until he's old enough to make up his own mind.

Nope. Personally I prefer to have relationships with people that at
least *try* to justify their actions and or beliefs.

    Too dull otherwise.
