Registration Security

I've wondered this and have even done it myself [1] why do people hide
the vehicle registration in photographs.

You can't find out someone's home address from it unless you have access
to the PNC (I'm assuming that's not open to the public...). The only
legitimate concern I can see is cloning but that can also be done with
the vehicle parked in the street.

Or have I missed something?

Having access to the PNC doesn't guarantee your privacy?

Don't understand that, either. I have a telephone so that people can
telephone me - why would I want to hide the number?

 

This I can understand. You may have a phone so that people can call you
but only those you give the number to.

Not the wanker who knows your surname and vaguely where you live who
thinks it's hilarious or welcomed to make prank/crank/strangely
disturbing in a rapidly masturbating kinda way calls.

There is also the possibility of a juicy ZXR7 race bike free for the
taking when you're next on holiday - whether its located in a Close or a
Row I'm not sure as there's two to choose from.

 

Because you don't enjoy talking to telemarketing people.

 

I use the telephone preference service to curtail that particular joy.
