I'd be tempted to tell them, indignantly, that I'll wait for a Britten to
come up for sale on a site that's actually navigable (derisive snort).

(they have a Bimota VDue, some NR750's, both new and used, and an RC45)

If you've got a spare 250K to buy a bike BigUn, you can afford a couple
of grand to pay someone to sort it out for you....

    JL
(I'll do it for a consultancy fee of say, 2.5%, tell ya what I'll round
it off to the nearest thousand and call it 6 grand hey ?)

It's a bit rude when you have to view the source code to find a way from
the front page to the bike page (stuffed if I could find a clickable link)

    Probably near enough impossible.... :-(

But, if you wanna give it a go, I can donate a complience plate, and
matching paperwork to claim it's a 1984 Yamaha RZ.....

  9. I had number 6 Britten in my van for a week last November when it came
over here (from Auckland) for the Geelong Speed trial.

And in May I am organising for the same No 6 Britten to be on display
and ridden in display/parade laps at the NW200 in Northern Ireland and
    at the IoM TT Fest.

In all probability Kevin (the owner and all round lucky guy) will have
it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and possibly at Assen for the
    Dutch MotoGP.

Hell! I'd do it for nothing but a couple of rides on sunny weekends...

Eastern Creek, Phillip Island..... Barrington - Walcha..... Oxley (might be a bit tight).... Alpine Way... Mt Panorama ...

Can you please post when you'll next have it in your van for a week.

Also where you will have the van parked ;-)

  12. Wellll, it won't be in my van, but it will be in a mate's van........
on the Isle of Man during the IoM TT Fest.
Sometimes on Douglas Prom. Sometimes outside one of the many pubs on
    the Island.

It's arriving there on Monday 23 May (after a tour of duty and
displays & parade laps at the North West 200 in Northern Ireland) and
will take part in the Parade lap at the Pre TT Classic meeting (Monday
30 May) at Castletown then on Friday 10 June in the TT Classic Parade
    lap of the Mountain Circuit.

I have not been invited to show the crowd how good a Britten can go,
but Hugh Anderson has. Hugh's 72 and still racing classic bikes in NZ.
He will be over here for the Island Classic in January at Phillip
    Island.

    Kind regards

I saw a 70-year-old Hugh Anderson racing at Willowbank a few years ago and
he does not know the meaning of "mellow".
    He was sticking-it-up-the-inside in do-or-die, last-lap,
racing-for-sheepstations manoeuvres that would've looked daring in current
    125 GPs!
    Faaark!

  14. Acksherly, Clem, he beat Barry Sheene fair & square at Willowbank and
it may well have been that meeting you were at.

He really is a great bloke. I spent a week with him when the Britten
was over here in Nov 2003. Once he gets to know people he will come
out with some amazingly hilarious stories of what went on during his
racing days in Europe in the 60's.

I'm very much looking forward to catching up with him again at the IoM
    TT next year.

As best as I can establish the list below is a history of his GP wins.
After he retired from the GP circuit he went on to a career racing
MotoCross and as he says "made a heap of money". He becaame so well
liked as a rider by the factories when he changed to motocross they
were virtually queueing up to buy his services.

    Kind regards

Thanks for that Dave; I never knew much about him only that he's a
"legend"!! (And reading that list I see that he's a certified FARKIN'
    LEGEND!!)

Yep; the Australian Historic Championships at Willowbank was where I saw
him racing for sheepstations against Barry Sheene.
(I also saw Kork Ballington racing a H1R in a different class so that's a
lot of world championship title-holders to see at one "minor" meeting!)
I'm embarrassed to admit that I couldn't recognise Hugh Anderson if I did
see him but I almost fell over when I saw Kork Ballington pulling the H1R
out of an unmarked Hi-Ace with no pit-crew, mechanics etc...
I gained a lot of respect for Barry Sheene (who I'd thought was a bit up
himself) when I saw him standing/sitting in the hot sun and still signing
autographs and talking to people long after most-everyone had packed up..
(and I'm so kicking myself now that I didn't let gNatalie line up to talk
to him 'cause the line was too long!)

When you see Mr Anderson, do something particularly sycophantic for me will
    ya Dave?
    Thanks ..... Clem
