registering an old BMW

  1. Hi Guys
Just wondering if anyone may know of an easy solution to my problem.
I guy imports 20 or so bikes to Australia from South Africa about 3 years
ago. He had 2 R60/2's but didn't have room for both, so one was left behind.
The vehicle import approval form ( from ACT) had the details of the bike
left behind, by mistake and was not picked up. I buy the bike from Perth,
restore it, go to get it registered (in WA) get a copy of the form and
    realise the details are incorrect.
The bike has not ever been registered in Australia and I have old rego discs
and the number plate from South Africa.
I had the bike inspected yesterday and passed no worries. All I need is the
Vehicle Import Approval from number on the paperwork and fax it to Perth.
I have emailed Canberra but have had no answer yet.
Could I get the Vehicle Import Approval form corrected and reissued?
Maybe an Affidavit from the seller stating the mix up?
    Anybody had a similar problem?
    Thanks for any help.
    Stephen

  2. Have a look at DOTARS website, the form is simple for any vehicle over 15
years old, $50 for filing a new form, plus all your proof of ownership etc.

Have you spoken to customs who cocked up on allowing the bike into the
country? They may have a way of correcting their stuff up - but dont hold
    your breath.
