Refund of road tax form V14

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Speedgazebo MOTP #1, Jun 20, 2009.

  1. I want to apply for a refund of road tax for the SOFiesta I have
managed to punt out, I have downloaded the relevant form (V14) from
the DVLA website. On the notes that come with the form, the first line
    says :
"Do not use a photocopy of this form as we will not accept it."
Does that mean I can't use the form I have just printed off, or does
it mean that I shouldn't copy the completed form and then send it ?
I have tried to call the DVLA to get an answer but there dosen't seem
to be any way to actually speak to anyone there.
Has anyone used a downloaded form for a refund, and if so did you get
    it ?

It seems completely stupid to have a downloadable form and then
    suggest you cant use it.

A print isn't a photocopy. As long as it is the same colour(s) as the
original how would they know? Its not like they check them with a
microscope. They might not accept an obviously (badly) photocopied form but
anything else should be no problem

  4. That is what I thought, I can't see any difference between my colour
laser printed download and then original except that mine dosen't have
the guidance notes on the back.
I am going to post it and see what happens.

You'll get your refund as long as your sig in section 4 is written in
ink-out-of-a-pen, by your hand, and not photocopied. That's all they
    mean.
The document becomes acceptable evidence should they decide you're
trying to defraud Her Majesty's[1] gummint[2].
