if your buggery is flapping, I'd suggest you need to lay off it for a
    while.

I am not sure that they make any difference. You are ultimately reliant
upon the other person looking in your direction and successfully
assessing the situation. If they're going to pull out in front of you,
you're not really going to benefit from the high-viz stuff.

If the fuckers don't look, they won't see you - no matter what you're
    wearing.
If the fuckers trouble themselves to look, but ignore you and pull out
anyway - they'll still have you.

You're better off saving the dosh and putting it towards some training
that will enable you to better judge how to get out of the situation
that the fuckers put you in. If you _must_ have reflective gear
<spit> then get yourself a proper armoured, waterproof jacket with
glow-in-the-dark piping on the seams and patches on the sticky-out
    bits.
That was it. Did you miss it?

You're right. One side of your kkitchen to another was a distance. Not
a huge distance agreed, but a distance it was :)

Agree with that mostly but from experience hi-viz stuff does help a
    bit.

The problem happens when the rider relies on the hi-viz stuff to much
and expects people to see them.

    Try :
    http://www.vander.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_EN471_Hi_Vis_54.html

I purchased the motorcycle jacket from them in early 2002..

It's breathable, totally waterproof and the cuffs and collar are perfect.
Also wears well and have survived one trip down the road
with only a slight dirty mark.

Highly recommended but you can expect to pay a fair bit more.

True, but it gives you the high moral ground when you're lying on the

That sounds like my mum's comment that, "it's no good telling St. Peter
that you were in the right while standing at the pearly gates".

Agreed. There's pretty much nothing you can do in either of these
    scenarios.

So you know of advanced training for £9.99?
Gotta look cool, above all, you gotta look cool.
Remember kiddies, if you're reading this at home, *never* rely on it,
and always ask an adult before you ride their bike.

Damn straight. I have a dark brown [almost black] winter jacket and
One True Colour trousers and don't bother with any hi viz stuff
barring my headlight. Paying attention is the key, I reckon.
