Scored a very sweet sub-35k mile FJ1100 lump for the princely sum of
......£70. It's less alternator/starter motor/clutch slave cyl, but mine are
    fine.
This was cheaper than buying even a top end gasket set, never mind the
valves needed for my old dog.
I had a run-in with a ZX6 (I think) a month or so ago. Very silly thing to
do is to try and race a modernish sports bike on a lardy old barge
(obviously in a straight line). The old Yam gave good account of itself for
a while, but I missed a clutchless change into top and saw the needle coming
off the stop on its way back down. Very lumpy afterwards and a compression
test told the sorry tale. Couple of bent valves methinks. It has managed to
survive the last months commuting on 'several cylniders', but I hate riding
    it in this state.
    Engine swap tomorrow.

If you _do_ get stuck with yours, I have still got my old engine which only
needs a couple of (straight!) valves.
