  1. Not with their turn right on red lights law. It makes riding a motorcycle a
little bit like russian roulette compared to here.

Don't they have that in Sydney "Turn left at any time with care"? I know
    they did in the 70s.

Only where signposted. Usually where the lights have a sliproad, and
the road to turn into has a very wide lane, or is 2 lanes.

Not that it's easy to tell if there's one of those when you are
heading towards it at right angles...

OK, I recall from living there in 74/5 that these signs were also at
intersections that had no slip-roads. In Perth slip-roads either have a
traffic light or a Give-Way sign, thus allowing anyone to "turn left anytime
with care". The majority of slip-roads have Give-Way signs here. So what is
    Fraser on about?

  5. No slip roads. So at a standard road crossing like this + there is a set of
lights. You are coming up to the green light and a car can go through the red
and turn in front of you legally. If the car drivers aren't on the ball or
looking for bikes you are toast.

That's the way I remember them in Sydney in 74, but not the way we have them
    here in Perth.
