Reattaching bits

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Mr. Fantastic, Aug 9, 2004.

  1. Anyone know how I can reattach one of those little bolt-holes[1] back to the
    swingarm?

Bolt-hole-thing seems to be made of ally, not sure what the swingarm is made
    of.

    Cheers.

[1] Don't know the proper name for it. It's a short, hollow cylinder with
grooves on the inside formerly attached to the bottom of the swingarm near
the rear axle. You stick a bolt (bobbin) in it to attach a paddock stand to
and lift the rear. There's one on each side.

Nah, bit of Loctite and a couple of cable ties. Gaffa tape if you want
    to be really sure.

    Mr. Fantastic says...
Used swing arms are dirt cheap because no-one ever buys them from
breakers. Probably cheaper than having someone weld this bit back on.

That's a bit of good news as the XS swing arm is:

    (a) corroded
    (b) spindle's still seized
    (c) shortly to be on the receiving end of a powered cutting tool

  5. Ta, but a used swingarm from Barton Motors is £60 + VAT. I'm sure someone
    can weld it for less.

I would certainly hope so anyway.
