Rearview Helmet Mirror...??

Anybody seen the article in `Driving` section of the Sunday Times?
Apparently there is a `revolutionary` helmet coming out this Winter, which
allows you to see behind without having to twist round/look into your
    pitifully small handlebar mirror...

    http://www.reevu.com/motorsports.asp

Along the lines of bending the light over the top of your helmet, onto a
mirror held on the front of the helmet somewhere, but its not clear to me
/where/ on the helmet this will be...

Just up above the visor, I'd expect, similar to the cycle helmets you can
    get already.

Surely all you'd see is your pillion passenger? [1]

    [1] assuming you have one.

    Well yeah; but the site FAQ states that;
"Q: What about Pillion passengers blocking the view
A: Although pillion passengers sit directly behind the rider, in most
    instances

they position their helmet to the side allowing them to see the road ahead
    rather

than into the back of the front rider's helmet. Therefore, the pillion
    passenger does

not tend to interfere with the rear view of the front rider. For further
    details see the

    safety & design page"

Dunno how many pillions keep their head to the side ALL the time?

Or how the riders expect the pillions to know when to move out of their line
    of sight??!!

Thing is most sports bikes I see about nowadays the pillion sits
a lot higher than the rider so I'm guessing their chest would be
in line of sight ... not that this is totally a bad thing with
    certain pillions/chests ;o)

Maybe it comes with an optional periscope for just such an occasion.

This is one thin I tell my pillions not to do, and if I catch them
leaning out to take a look I give them a quick rap on the lid. They can
bloody well look to the side. I don't want them frightening themselves
by seeing what's coming up infront!

I can just picture these helmets, like those coaches with the two ear
like mirrors flopping down over the front. Wonderful.

These CANNOT be for real!! Theres no way you could hope to see with these
stuck on your helmet. And as for this; `for proper bond, mirrors, helmet &
adhesive must be between 50 & 100deg F`??! How are you supposed to get
them that warm? Unless the whole things a con...

    50 deg F = 10 deg C
    100 deg F = 38 deg C

    Think "room temperature".

Not only are they for real, they're apparently quite effective once you get
    used to them.
    And the temperature; 50°F = 10°C, 100°F = 38°C.

The lovely Fouga Magister[1] was equipped with a periscope to allow the
guy in the rear seat to see forward over the head of the guy in front.
In practice, it was reckoned to be like looking through a hole in his
    head.

`DUH` Wasnt thinking straight `bout the temps... Still think Id feel a
    total prat wearing them,
plus I`d always be worried they`d whizz off at some point, braining any
    pillion or scaring the
sh*t out of some car driver behind... Can`t quite see myself sauntering down
    the high street
carrying a lid with those things on...

  15. I often wondered what happened to the insane creature who invented the
    'BigVue' Telvision Magnifying Lens.

All this time he's been locked in the garden shed designing the rearward
    vision motorcycle helmet.

It's a winner, you mark my words.

Things like that sell like fucking hot cakes on ebay. Along with the
"plan and fresnel lens supplied, turn your 28" TV into a 100" wall
    projector" for DIY nutters.
