rear tire wobble

Discussion in 'Motorbike Technical Discussion' started by David Allen Trimm, Jun 3, 2004.

  1. I have an '82 Honda CM450E that is still stock. When I get on the highway
the rear tire appears to be wobbling like it is out of adjustment. I have
checked alignment, seems ok. I have checked balance, seem ok. I did notice
my chain was too loose, and tightened it up, but wobble didn't go away. Any
    suggestions?

with the bike on the centerstand, can you grab the wheel (like a steering
wheel) and move it back and forth (in and out so to speak) ?...If so your
    wheel bearing are going out

  4. I think it is true, checked it up in the air and appears to run smooth...

  6. I was reading some old posts here, and discovered that the bike should
travel straight if I let go of the handle bars. It goes straight for the
right curb, so I am going to try to do a better alignment and let you guys
know what happened. Wish me luck...

  7. While you're at it, try the same thing with the swing arm.
Swingarm bearings/bushings are often badly neglected.
