( Rear fender) 1973 cb 750 honda k3 ?

    Just bought this bike, & what i am wanting to do is change the rear fender
    to a bobtail type.
    I have seen some rebel Honda's with this type fender & was wondering if i
    could use a fender from it?

    Or any info that you may know of on any bobtail fender i could use to do
    this would be helpful.
    and how much work would be involved in getting this type of bobtail fender
    to work on my bike.

  2. As long as it's roughly the right width, to fit between the rear frame
    tubes, it's hardly the biggest job in the world.

    PS: If your existing fender (mudguard, to us Brits) is original and in
    good condition, put it on Ebay. You might be surprised.....

    Thanks for the reply, Will have to get a tape measure & check and see
    how much space i have & the size of the fender i want to use.
    Everything on the bike is orignal, and most parts in good condition, will be
    changing the
    gas tank, seat, handlebars and maybe a few other things.
    So some may end up on ebay for sale.

  4. Jesus. Right - a good fuel tank, in original paint and undinged, and
    ditto seat, will probably be worth what you paid for the bike
    originally.....

    Not original paint, But yes in good shape. Seat is in excellent shape.
    Only Paid $250.00 us dollars for bike, Bike has sat for less than year
    cause previous owner dumped it doing about 25mph, rode it for
    a half hour after that and it died and could not get it started again.
    Other than it not starting handlebars got slightly bent and dinged the cover
    where the stator goes.
    weather was changing to winter so he just parked it and it sat.

    so far i have invested.
    $34.95 Battery, from Advance Auto supplies
    $10.00 Duel points and Condenser from ebay (New)<----includes shipping &
    handling
    a great find i think for the price.....:)

    I have a near by Honda dealer & from them it was going to run me $20 dollars
    each for
    the points & $23 dollars for the Condenser = $63 dollars+ tax.

    Will be working on it the weekend coming, hope to get it running & and will
    go
    from there to see what else i have to do to get it road ready.
    I'm sure i will be investing a bit more, or a lot more cash, but in the
    end i will learn a bit and have a bike i can ride as well.....:)

    The big problem with changing your fender is that the original is two
    pieces.
    the chrome piece on the back.. and the plastic inner fender
    to replace both looks cheesy most of the time
    and to just replace the chrome piece makest it harder to do without
    the bolts lining up well. the replacement rattles and falls off
    easly.
    I have rarely seen a replacement look and function well ( i've been
    riding SOHC 750's since '77 )
    the rebel fender is likely a good starting point .. but expect to do a
    lot of work and get it repainted or rechromed when you are done..
    likely you will spend as much on the fender as you did on the entire
    bike, If you want it to look good
    The original CB750 Frame was functional .. not pretty.. that is why so
    many of the wanna be harley riders ended up with something that looked
    like crap.
    If you want to customize a 750 to look good .. expect to spend at
    least $2000 and a lot of work.. that is NOT counting the cost of the
    bike.. which as you see have gotten quite cheap.. but are still very
    good machines.. if you keep the oil clean and any motorwork is done
    right .. WITHOUT ANY SILICONE AROUND THE CYLINDER HEAD OR VALVE COVER.
