Rear dual shocks

  1. My CB72 rear shocks need stripping for paint and chrome. Where do I
start and do I need any special tools?

  2. You need a shock spring compressor. The spring is held in place by split
collets, exactly like valve springs, and so you need the tool that
safely compresses the spring on the shock body so you can hoick out the
collets and then gently release the spring.

    They can be bought.

  3. *confused*

The spring is internal and I can't see anyway of starting to get the
externals apart to get at it. Do I have to somehow compress the outer
cover - it looks a bit weak to start winding spring compressor gear on
    it.

  4. Ah yes, elcosed rear shocks. I think the same applies, but best ask a
suspension expert. If the units are sealed for life, you're fucked.

I did post his website and/or e-mail here a while back. I'll find it
again. He makes special parts - mainly for motorcycles - full-time.
Ralph - er - er - I used to work for him, but can I remember his
    surname?

I expect his card is on my desk, but so's a mountain of other stuff...

  16. Huh! You think *THAT'S* enough time to search my desk?

    His name's Ralph Allen.

I went looksee, and his wibble is www.motalia.co.uk/, and an e-mail
address is sales at motalia dot com

I tried his old Demon address and it didn't work.
