It's been a while since I've been on aus.motorcycles, good to see there's
still a wealth of info out there. Assuming I get the old disk off (thanks
for all the responses), I'm still a bit suss on the new one. I had to order
it in but stupidly left the shop without checking it out first. The rear
disks I've had previously on the FJ1200 were all the solid type, whereas the
new one I've got is the type with all the holes in it. I've only ever seen
this type on as front disks. It looks like it will fit ok, but just
wondering if this type of disk would normally go on a rear or has the wrong
    disk been ordered.

    It's a Ventilated disk
Should be ok as pretty much all disks are like that nowadays

It's most proabably not an OEM-Yamaha part, but aftermarket (nothing wrong
    with that).
As long as the bolts fit, the diameter and thickness match, you'll be fine.
    cheers

    No; it won't fit.
Tell you what; you send it to me and I'll send you an almost-new ventilated disk as a replacement. (Only done
    145,000km)
I'm only doing this 'cause you're a mate......
