    I was just walking past a caryard when I spotted a 1980 Jaguar XJ6,
with a price tag of only $1900!

I only just barely escaped! With my wallet intact![1]

[1] Surely just standing next to one of those induces a bloke to start
    tearing up $20 notes?

That's it! Don't just think of the money that you have saved, also
think of the time that you won't have to spend re-building it.

    Just one XJ6?

You should be able to get a brace of GPXs and a postie bike for that!

(although the XJ6 might just have more pull with the goth chicks)

I don't see the problem? If someone offered me $1900 to take
an 1980 Jaguar XJ6 away, I'd do it. A hundred bucks worth of
petrol, dump the bastard in a side street in Bondi, you're
$1800 and half a day in front.

    Works for me.

Just have to bite on that one. .cars or .bikes... I'm away anyway.
Back in the early '70's when I was a bit of a nob around Melb., (says I),
I owned an XK fixed head(?).. reg No. XK 150... it had a bit of race
stuff ex Bob Jane on it. I went even better and got reg No. XK 150,
when that was released... had it on a Renualt R4(?) front seat like deck
chairs. Decided to rebuild the Jag... had it well stripped down; was burning
oil.... then decided to get out of that hell hole and go bush, where I still
    am.
Sold the Jag for $2500 to a Jack Griffiths was at the Caulfield Instit of
    Tech.,
then sold the Renault for $500... ah well!!

Not at all, a good XJ is very reliable. It's when you buy one that isn't
running that it can take a while, but that's not an XJ

Hi Rockit, can you contact me offlist please, friend of mine looks after
the XK register and you may well be able to fill the ownership gaps in
    the history of someone's car

    Ain't that the truth!

My father has records of most Daimlers in the country. You should have seen his face when a bloke
that used to work in a Daimler dealership rocked up to the club with documentation on a shite-load
of pre-Jag Daimlers that were sold in this country (chassis and engine numbers, first owners,
    original colours, etc)

You're a bit serious about this JL. Nailed to my shed wall is the body ID
plate of Mercedes chassis number 002.

The second chassis made by Mercedes in Australia. A 220S.

Funny bugger ! :) Was only offering to lend him some electrons I'm
afraid (although for a small sum he can indeed have the metal plate
bearing the chassis number and I'll throw the rest of the car in free.

    Pfft; No such car!
Kingswood was just one spec' level for 70's Holdens (as were Premier &
Belmont) but somehow "Kingswood" has become synonymous with "Holden" for
    that era.
