Ah , grasshoppah , you have not yet learned the joys of a leisurely cruise
    thru the beautiful countryside .
Look dude , you got your style , and I got mine . If you like getting
from one stop to the next before the coffee cools , that's fine by me . But
don't fer cryin' out loud go dissin' my style cuz you don't ride like me . I
prefer to take my time (except on long , straight , boring 4-lane slabs ,
there I like to haul ass) even stop because the view is nice and pull a cold
    beer from the saddlebag.
    You are riding a 400 lb cutting-edge racebred motorcycle . I'm riding a
700 pound hand shift bagger that's 30 years old - and I feel pretty damn
good about dragging my floorboards .

Bzzzzt , wrong , Alan . The force causing the lean which causes the turn is
gyroscopic precession . Take a child's toy gyro , with the axle horizontal ,
push the left side away from you and see what happens . <<<be sure the
rotation is the same direction as your front wheel , ie top moving away from
    you >>>

I like the bikes I have. If I was to replace the SV, it'd be a speed
triple. I'm not a racer and never claimed to be.

  9. But, but, but it hasn't broken down!

As for 1200 Trophies - well, I've got one myself, so I'm pretty familiar
with them. Walloping great torquey barges, but they do handle quite
    nicely.

I wouldn't. When I eventually buy a proper sports car I think Porsche
will be bottom of the list. I really don't like them. Not for
performance or handling reasons, I just don't like the look and the
image they give. I'd rather have a secondhand Aston than a new
    Porsche.

Don't you think that driveability and TCO should be the decision makers?
nothing comes close IMHO. WGAF what other people think of you because of
your choice of carriage and you *cannot* deny that the 911 and Boxters
    are styling icons.

Nope, I honestly reckon cars like that are purely about making a
statement. It's like GSXR1000s, they're virtually never used how
    they're intended.

I'd spend most of my time pottering up and down motorways, so I'd
rather have something that looks beautiful and is a nice place to be,
than something that can corner on rails.

Your setting yourself up for a roasting here! there are a few Gixxers
and ZX-10's etc that get pretty serious use on a regular basis. A few
nice cages that get the same I'll warrant.

Go sit in a 997-911 cabin, it couldn't be a nicer place to sit

I'm going to leave this alone now, it's a bike group ;o)

You know what I mean. Even the quick riders round here don't use the
full potential of those bikes, and they'll be the first ones to admit
    that they can't.
    I have, and driven a new 911 (997) Carrera 2 and a new Carrera 4S.
Yes, they're amazing cars on a performance level, but they just leave
me cold. I simply don't like the look and style of them.
I wasn't seeking an argument about the abilities of a Porsche, I was
simply saying that I (personally) don't like how they look. And to
me, the appearance is a big part of why I'd buy something like that.

  19. Hey Mark, how are you doing? I'm not really trying to be anonymous,
just tired of the crap that using my real name and addy brought on for
    ten years. [1]

And shit, I've always been a bit unbalanced, so appearing that way on
usenet isn't going to make a bit of difference.

However, I do chuckle at these boyos here who are such riding gods that
they've examined a professional photo of a national LW Sportsman field
leading racebike in the infield of Daytona as a "trackday" or "warm-up"
photo. Kind of makes you wonder how they ride their big bad Gixxer
Thous on the streets. Or, at least, it makes me wonder.

its end... only tim will tell.
