Looks like Chicago to me, I don't know why cos I've never been there
    myself.

On the subject of my zig-zag specs, the hospital have discharged me
after determining that I need a total of 15 prisms in my lenses to
correct the double vision. There are currently 6 prisms built into the
specs with a further 9 in the fresnel lens on my left lens. I'm
arranging an opticians appointment next week to get new specs with all
the prisms incorporated into the lenses.

Read recently that a study showed the country with the highest rate of
violence was Scotland. That struck me as odd since I was not aware that my
    ancestral homeland had been liberated.

Very near Brooklyn Bridge, at a guess.

  4. Miso - hate
    Pogon - beard
Ist - one of those types
    Phobia - a fear

    Pogonist - beard lover
Misopogonist - a person who hates beards
Misopogonistophobic - fear of a person who hates beards.

Add a dwarf, 3 unicyclists, a Nuffield Lawn Tractor and a sprung
mattress and you've got the beginnings of an act.

  10. Depends on your definition of violence surly. If you take murder,
which is about as violent as is possible then Scotland is the highest
in the UK. Not however in western Europe, it does have the second
highest per capita murder rate in western Europe after Finland. <FX
    google> http://www.guardian.co.uk/crime/article/0,2763,1578388,00.html
still even Finland is only 1/2 the US rate.

  11. And we don't use them now. We've evolved.
Ah, so giving up the death penalty *is* evidence of good manners? Nice
of you to acknowledge the fact.

I take it that 'nigger', 'spade' and 'coon' don't go down too well
    either.

Good point . That *does* make a difference . Made a comment at work one day
about all us <n-word> being pretty much in the same boat ... most of the
black guys were alright with it , couple of them were highly offended . And
they weren't even there when I said it , heard about it second or third hand
.... didn't seem to matter I was tarring myself with the same brush , so to
    speak .
