The amount of torque needed to accelerate is directly proportional to the
    total mass being moved .
I finally made it up to 140 lbs after I quit smoking ... The bike and I
together weigh in at just over 450 lbs , makes for some real fun in traffic
.. And the younger folks do a doubletake when I pull off my helmet and they
realize that a greybeard is riding it !<gbfg>

  6. In the UK, at least, this is crap. And my Ducati, bought new in 1997,
had a two-year warranty as well.
It's as good - two years.
And bought on the cheap by HD...
www.davidsilverspares.co.uk You really do write the most appalling

What a load of wank. You can't make a generalization about a large part of
the UK from the actions of a few disaffected youths who have been
    manipulated by anarchists.

Public execution and sell the tv rights. Follow up with a dvd release
and you've got a tax free year for the whole of the UK.

Whoah there a minute. I've been riding and working on bikes for 30
years now but I'd still want a manual if I was going to do anything
other than basic maintenance. You can't be expected to just know off
by heart all the settings and the complete wiring harness without one.

I stand by what I said. Try going to places like Oldham, Blackburn or
Bradford (to name just three) and then tell me how well assimilated
into the community different ethnic groups have become. After that pop
up to Bedford where we live and I'll show you a case study in
integrating into the community. It just hasn't happened.

Again I disagree. It has happened in some places, not in others. You cannot
make generalizations whether along your lines or Auvache's.

I guess from the areas you mention that you are talking about people from
India, Pakistan & Bangladesh? Go to other areas and you'll find clusters of
people with Irish, Welsh and English ancestry living in over-populated, run
down areas. These areas, regardless of the ethnic origin of the people will
    have one common factor: poverty.

Which takes me back to Steves original comment that we don't have
ethnic ghettos. Unfortunately we do have them. I wish we didn't but
the sad fact is that they exist and will probably continue to do so
for a good many years to come.

If you had expressed your disagreement with Steve in this rational way then
I would not have taken umbrage. However, you went off on a Daily Mail style
rant that homogenised immigrants, disaffected youth and anarchy.

    Interesting. Ta.
By "large displacement", I take it you mean "cruisers". Things like Pan
Europeans, FFJR1300s, Gixxer Thous etc are still built in Japan AFAIK.[/QUOTE]

Cruisers for sure but also a few of the other over 1000cc bikes have
been at least assembled in the US.
That was done in large part because of the import duties on over 700cc
    bikes.
The may very well have taken that back to Japan now that the duties
have gobe back to normal levels.

I tried a few web searhces but I was unable to dig up where the bikes
    are built.
I did notice that some of the dirt bikes had been built in the US at
    one time too.

    I'm surprised.
I would have thought they would just farm it all out.
Do they actually use the whole Demming style teamwork approach?
