And perhaps more significantly no-one in Europe, AFAIAA, is ever
required to state their 'race'. If asked, most would simply give their
home country, or that of their parents/grandparents. So very few
people ever feel the need to describe race as such.

With the ones we hired[1] we were told to start looking for
petrol stations after about 100 miles! In reality, we usually
did around 120-130 between stops but reckoned that the
tanks were never actually that close to being empty.
I think on one occasion we did 150ish miles before filling
    up.

This was doing 50-60 and 70-80 on single carriageways
    and freeways respectively.

I don't know the capacity of the tank[2] but suspect that
closer to 180 miles or more on a tank would be easily doable
    while cruising on freeways.

  4. You do know, don't you, that a US gallon is 0.83 of a UK gallon? Yes, some
things [this space left blank for gratuitously insulting graffiti] really
are smaller LeftPond than RightPond. Consequently, transatlantic fuel
comparisons are not *always* what they seem.

Oh yeah, I remember. But it was only added last time around, IIRC. But
still it's not something that's often used.

Beg your pardon. My touring motorcycle has a seven gallon stock tank and
easily goes 270 miles nonstop at a cruise of 70-80 mph. It normally gets
50 mpg on a calm day on interstate highways.
    Well, it is a 1999 R1100RT... and it's not a tall tale. :)

Typical range for a current H-D touring bike is 180-210 miles. Perhaps
a but less with lots of in-town stop & go riding, and perhaps a bit
more on a continuous, low speed tour.

Well, it certainly explains why so many Brits seem to be enraptured
with Gixxer Thous. You can't ride anyway, so you might as well have
butt jewelry that lets you brag your ass off as you sit at the pub,
commiserating with one another about the weather!

  14. Probably because you're all the same group!

No one is forced to reply to race in the US either. There's always the
"prefer not to answer" tic box. Race data is used for complying with
affirmative action laws which specify that at least X amount of
candidates must be of a certain origin.

Kinda like how Oxford the other day was finally forced into accpeting
more of the lower classes into their snooty university.

And yes, Caucasian refers to "white" in the US.

When you lot have significant amounts of immigrants in the EC, you can
    look forward to this too.

Greek Shipping Magnets, Dec 16, 2005
  15. What's wrong with that?

All international relations are ultimately, voluntary. And as you
point out, the US has been far better behaved than similar 800lb.
    gorillas, Britannia including.

All of the "imperialistic" policies the eurowankers point out are
still nothing at all as bad as the piddling Opium Wars you mention.

Learn to play nice with the 800lb. gorilla.
Oh how nice of you to allow us that!
To socialised monarchies, sure! To be rescinded at will.

Us Merkins take them a bit more seriously. Inalienable documents mate!
Which is ultimately the entire manifesto behind socliased Europe. "To
me" being well connected bureaucrats and "countrymen" being everybody
    else.
And you're STILL in England man? Think a little harder then!
Ah but you damn well near invented it.
Yep. And thanks to the Yanks and Frogs pretty much the last time the
world saw those kind of things.

Well, you lot are still "making progress" anyways.
Having been both here and there I call your bluff. The only thing
alluding to race in the US Constitution actually gives more rights to
    said parties, not precludes them.

Americans as a whole are far better behaved. When was the last time
you saw deaths at a sporting event?

Now that multiculutralism rears it's head, Euros are showing some
    pretty ugly colours.

And I'm not even beginning to mention Australia! Same flag in'it?

Greek Shipping Magnets, Dec 16, 2005
  16. Yes. That one.

Now why haven't you lot joined in? Could it be because your BPS is
even stronger? What kind of "union" is this? Come when and how you
    feel like it?

Or are you afraid of having to assist Germany in supporting the
    stragglers?
And technically you're a common Europeon wanker who has nothing better
to do than fester upon technicalities. I'll bet you rubberstamp
    passports at border control, yes?

    Bueraucracy. Europe's most profitable industry!
LOL! They're all communists from over here lad. Right wing is what we
call "moderate Republican" over here. A tad more lenient than Bush.
Students can join and assemble as they wish. It's the
institutionalisation that prefers one religion over another which is
    illegal.
Ridiculous to the extreme. Yet on par for Europe!

American schoolkids can wear and display whatever relgious ornaments
they wish upon their person. They can speak of religion freely. So
long as they're not cramming it down each other's throats.
Aha... the "truth". And who gets to decide the truth? Government
wankers perchance? Oh that certainly won't lead to stifling dissent
    and discourse!

But thanks for expounding upon your limited "rights". Free to speak
    whatever the government approves of.
It is most telling that you consider gun ownership for idiots. Spoken
like a good little bird in his gilded socialist cage. Master Blair
would be so terribly proud of you!

The Swiss poesses them almost universally, to a higher degree than the
US. And as a nation they are far brighter, peaceful and industrious
than the Brits. Been to both places. Vastly prefer Zurich.

Why I can't really blame your government for banning guns in the UK.
So low is the moral standard of the average character. It's no wonder
you lot think not to trust anyone with them. But just because a nation
of children-idiots (chidiots?) doth Britain make, doesn't mean
humanity can't reach a little higher.

Around now is when you lob an accusation against American
intelligence. Ignoring for a moment America has never been about the
greatest good for all but for allowing human development to evolve
furthest for those interested in taking advantage.

This is freedom in action. Many will mire themselves in mediocrity. A
few will rise to the top. And they will create a society far superior
to anything a goobermint bueraucrat can manage with their rubber stamp
    approach to all.

I have no reason to doubt this. The fact remains that the big four Japanese
motorcycle makers did try to sell 1000 of bikes under their cost of
production in the USA. That's what led to Reagans tariff.

Technically there are only three races, Caucasoid, Negroid, Mongoloid ( AKA
white/black/yellow). Most people tend to recognize subgroups, and some of
the hybrids/variants are distinct and self sustaining such as Japanese and
    American Indian.

A number of misguided souls confuse ethnicity with race, such as Hispanic,
which is a linguistic and cultural group. For example Alberto Fujimoro was
both Japanese and Hispanic. Organizations like MECHA/La Raza is really out
to lunch ( there is no brown or Mexican or Hispanic race). Tribal issues,
esp in the third world make it even worse.

IME (with some notable exceptions) the USA, Australia, NZ, and Canada,
though very race conscious, are the least bigoted countries out there while
Asia and the 3rd world are the worst. Western Europe is still in racial
dreamland land though the recent riots in France may start to wake them up.

Overall it sounds a lot like the Usenet hierarchies.
