Must feel great to have defeated the Nazi Reich single handed, only to
have Austrians condemning freeborn Americans to death in the 21st
    Century.

Maybe because he has about 6 other bikes on the road at any one time,
and a daily commute of about 40 miles. The Ducati isn't used that much
compared to the other bikes TOG owns.

  4. Another fool who hasn't considered, despite the evidence placed in front
of him, that the Ducati is a long way from being my only bike....

The Older Gentleman, Dec 13, 2005
  5. As Lozzo points out - check the sig.

I have the Trophy for touring. The CB125 is for running around London.
The XS650... well, that's simply because I like vertical twins. The 400
Four is because I admire its mechanical jewellery (jewelry, to you). The
DT50 - OK, that belongs to Number One Son now.

And this year there was also the CB750. Oh, and the CD200, now in the
    hands of another ukrm-er.

The Ducati is for summer, dry winter days, Continental weekends, and
when it's ridden, it's ridden balls-out. It is hammered to its (modest)
maximum speed on a regular basis. It's looking a bit travel-stained, but
it is maintained as fastidiously as you can possibly imagine.

Of course, if you'd thought for a moment, and seen the other bikes I
own, you'd have drawn a similar conclusion yourself. But you're
    American, so you didn't.

  6. Would you like to tell us when, in the Second World War, you decided to
    join in?

    Be *very* careful here.

  8. Now *there's* an interesting question. Well asked, sir.

Mu guess is - about the same number as Triumph bits.

HD forks are Showa, IIRC. The rear shocks are also almost certainy Jap,
    but I don't know.

I imagine the frames and main engine components are US-built. Same for
fuel tanks, and maybe seats. Even then - who knows? The seat on my
    Triumph is made in Italy.

Clocks? Triumph uses European - not British. HD???

Something like 20 years ago, ISTR Uncle Bunt - a Brit customiser who, I
think, moved to the US - exhibited at a bike show a harley that was
built completely from pattern parts, with the exception of the
crankcases. Every other part came from Taiwan. ISTR an article in
    'Superbike' about it.

And you don't know how many others I have in my small-but-growing collection
    either , do you ... just cuz I don't list 'em don't mean I don't ride 'em .

  10. Well, my point exactly. I ride, and have ridden, a lot of bikes, and
therefore just because one bike has covered something around 3500 miles
a year, doesn't mean the owner doesn't ride much.

But then *I* am not the one called this into question. You were.

NoSir , not an Ouch at all !
That man (if you can call him that) was a pox on humanity . Some of the
derivatives of his actions beforte he was convicted used to live and sell
drugs on my street . If he was even close to the scumbag lowness of these
people , they should have offed him years ago and saved the taxpayers the
    cost of holding him .
The fact that he "changed his colors" while in prison does not change the
fact that many lives were ended by or because of him .
And BTW , Dodger , old Codger , we did *not* singlehandedly defeat the
Nazis . That was a cooperative effort .

OK, so what Harley would compare to a full on tourer, and by tourer I
mean someting like yamaha's FJR1300, or the Honda Pan European.

    I can't think of any.

Harley aren't in the tourer market, just like they're not in the
sportsbike market. They make a range of cruisers in various sizes,
    that's it, end of story.

Highly chromed automotive sporks, that's what they are.

  16. If we're talking about Europe, as you were..

    *Wrong*

I'll give you another chance. When did you decide to come and help us in
    Europe?

Be *very* careful. I want to see a date here. A year will do.

The Older Gentleman, Dec 13, 2005
  17. I agree here. keeping a man on death row for a quarter of a century is
barbaric. Execute - if you support that - or imprison for decades. But
    both?
And when did you decide to join in against the Nazis? Dates, details?

  20. Arnie? Debatable, but for The Last Action Hero he deserved to die a
    thousand deaths, so maybe justified.
