I'm sure someone in UKRM will be able to offer some good advice, Larry.

  6. Sure. First, cut out the offending part and throw it away. Then replace
the other parts with something with International Harvester on the side.

If you don't want to undertake such radical surgery, there must be a
    stiffer spring and damper available.

New Zealand don't have many of them -- it's mostly like rural England

Buy a proper bike then, not some antiquated pseudo-cool piece of tatt.

How come HD have been making these things for over 100 years, and have
let the Japs beat them in every respect in less than 10? Why do people
still waste their hard earnt money on HDs?

Ihave a perfectly adequate Triumph Trophy 1200 for toring around the
contry, but for local rides (100 or less) I prefer the more laid-back style
of my Bonneville America. Only whenever I ride that, I feel it's an attempt
to imitate the "look and feel" of the Harley (even the 270 degree engine
noise simulates the Harley - but that's obviously so they can sell them in
America, which is the major market for Triumph). I have 30 other bikes from
1969 to 1980 in various stages of restoration. I don't "love" one
particular brand, I like all bikes (including my 2005 4 stroke WR450 Yamaha
trail bike). It seems from the responses in this forum (my first visit) that
each marque owner disparages other makes. I like 'em all!

ROFL. I love just about every marque of bike, 2-stroke and 4-stroke
alike, except the overpriced rubbish that are Harleys and BMWs.

Except (apparently) those incapable of negotiating a corner.

    Which is entirely understandable.

Evidently HD is being investigated for dodgy business practices. HD have
a warehouse in Pennsylvania where they have been hiding bikes dealers
have been forced to buy but cannot sell as they are not the popular
    models.

  19. It is! Amazing how badly one has to ride a gixxer for that to happen,
but there are twats everywhere wobbling around on the damn things, and
    bragging about it on usenet.
