I know we've done this before, but I can't find it via google.

I have a minature helo for indoors, but I'm in the market for an RC
helo, preferably battery powered for outdoors.

    Suggestions please.

    For ideas try:

    http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/acatalog/HeliKits_Electric.html

They sell mini helis and larger outdoor ones.

I bought my (now sadly non-functional) Eco-8 from them. Which reminds
me: must get the thing on Ebay: I can't be bothered to figure out
what's wrong with it and it's been gathering dust for a couple of
    years now.

Long gone now, replaced by yet another but with a more functional Tx and
    double Rx.

    Check these out.

No prices on display, but I've just set one up and it was nothing short of
miraculous how they managed to get all this together for the price.

    An example if you will.

Align T-Rex 450 airframe only comes in at around 240 quid. The Chinese clone
of the 450 Pro is (wait for it...) 87 fucking quid and they do a slightly
less "luxurious" versin for a massive 50 quid.

Obviously you need all the electrics (motor, speed controller,
battery/charger, Tx, Rx, servo's and gyro) but it's still bloody cheap when
    you've bought it all.

They work too and all the parts are interchangeable with the T-Rex, so
spares are a piece of piss to get hold of.

T-Rex 500 (or good quality T-Rex 500 clone). Large enough so they aren't
too twitchy and can be flown when it's quite windy, but not so large
you need enormous battery packs. (Avoid the Align 3G flybarless system,
keep it simple for your first collective pitch heli. If you want to
go flybarless, use the Align 3G mechanicals, but with the BeastX gyro).

Also, get a simulator. If this is your first collective pitch model you'll
quickly learn means "collective" means you "collect the pieces". If you
avoid just one crash, the simulator has paid off. I recommend Phoenix.

It's also worth going to somewhere like the rcheliaddicts.co.uk forum
and having a look around there.

    Cheers.

The t-rex is a bit over budget but I will get the simulator.
